I think that the content itself would matter more than HD or 4K. If it's really good content that the customer wants, he's going to watch it regardless of the HD, 2K or 4K resolution.

What you might want to consider is rending your work in 4K as usual, but to also make 2K and HD versions available. Since HD is a smaller size, it can load faster on devices with slower Internet connections. If you upload 4K content to Youtube, they render your videos in HD and 2K too for this reason.
