what kind of budget do you give your new projects? 88 cents?
if i started a paysite project, my barebottom minimum budget would be $20k startup and $10k a month. that's buying content, not even shooting. a few grand for the software to manage the site is a small purchase. billers charge a grand a year and ongoing percentages just for processing cards. a model charges more for a shoot than a MB license.
if your clients/friends say its too expensive, watch this:
your responses make me wonder when was the last time you were involved in a real web project? software and hosting is an expected and necessary ongoing cost. this is basic.
