I used to get migraine with aura really badly, starting about the age of 19-20, and when I had them, any bright light felt like it slammed a piano of pain behind my eyeballs. I describe it as a "piano of pain" because the pain itself had so many different "notes" or different sensations of pain. It was horrible and a bright light could make me just vomit instantly if I didn't totally cover my eyes during the "aura" part.
My family doctor at the time put me on maxalt wafers, but those gave me intense side effects like a totally numb face, the sensation of paralysis in my legs, and VERY weird out-of-body effects where I would turn my head, or try and stand up, and I felt like I stood up, but there was a 1-2 second lag where I actually would stand up. VERY strange. It also would wipe me the fuck out for 2-3 days. A rottweiler bit me deep on my forearm and I had a migraine right after that, took a maxalt wafer and I was fucking destroyed for like 4 days, couldn't even think or get out of bed because of the migraine.
I started smoking sativa weed exclusively for the migraines and stopped using the maxalt wafers, and once I started smoking weed, the "aura" part of the migraine was no longer painful. Something about the weed totally numbed the pain and light sensitivity. 15+ years later, I still get migraines but I don't even feel any pain from them. They're just an annoyance in my vision and make me a bit sleepy. If I start having a migraine these days, the near instant cure for one is:
-drink some coffee
-smoke a joint
-take a shower
-beat off
-take a nap
...and voila, no pain!
Also, during COVID when I had COVID, I hit the bong and smoked so much weed, watched the extended Lord of the Rings twice, weed is 100% a powerful medicine and the only reason it was illegal for so long is because it is cheap, people can grow it at home, and big corporations couldn't sell it for $100/gram.
