The logic was stretch, but here's how it worked - The mail was known as 'The ROYAL Mail' - And an 'uncertified' tape was classed as 'Obscene' - There was no way to get the tape certified (regardless of how tame it might be) because porn was still illegal. So, you have by default, commited a crime of a 'Sexual Nature' against none other than the Queen of England herself! Hence the ludicrous penalties...

Unless I was filming (Which was always fun) it was rather boring to be truthful. Just basically Duplication, Duplication & more Duplication... I've written on here before about it, but in a nutshell it worked like this - We had a bank of twenty VHS players, all recording from a master, through a signal booster. It was just a daily case of putting in blank tapes, labeling them up once done, then repeating the process...

We only had twenty going at a time, because every month or so, police would burst in, and destroy the video recorders - But funnily enough, never the signal booster - I guess they didn't know what that was. However we always had another replacement load of video recorders on standby, so we could just reset and start again instantly...

You may wonder why I wasn't arrested, but actully duplicating tapes itself, isn't illegal - Neither was filming porn myself. Had I been copying american tapes (Which I had not created myself) perhaps they could have got me for piracy? but i wasn't...

As long as I didnt sell those tapes, or put them in the post, there was very little they could get me for... So they just smashed up the recording equipment from time to time, to be seen to be doing 'something'...
