It isn?t much of a scar anymore. You can buy a house, car or anything else. A typical bankrupt gets 20-30 pre-approved credit card offers two months after filing. These are unsecured and often at a lower interest rate than the cards they filed on. 20 years ago it was a scar nowadays it isn?t. I am not saying she should or should not do it. I don?t know her situation, but it certainly is an option for her and one that will get her out of the contract.
