The Langenscheidt publishing group, best known for its respected foreign language dictionaries, will launch sales of a 128-page book to translate the subtext behind phrases often uttered by women.
"My book is aimed at rescuing relationships in this country and abroad," the author, comedian Mario Barth, said in a statement.
Barth has sought to preempt accusations of sexism by saying: "It's difficult for women to understand that men only say what they mean. It's because we men are more primitive than women."
Some of the examples given may raise female eyebrows.
According to the dictionary, called "German-Woman/Woman-German" and due out in October, the phrase: "Let's just cuddle" means "No sex tonight please!"
