Traffic advice.
I recently just quit my job as systems administrator/web application programmer for AmateurHosting.com/AllCamz.com. I've also just bought $4,000 in content from such places as David Lace.
After speaking to my friend Dan, who owns a large amateur site with his wife, and showing him my intended site layout, he let me know that he has no experience marketing a Professional based site.
Because I'm using pro galleries, and sharp images, along with the site being just a mega site, his advice was to do two things to drive traffic to my site (which is not up yet, still sorting through thousands of pictures to match up chiqz):
TGP the Professional site as much as I can (but don't go overboard), which links to my site's Tour.
He suggested that I then make a seperate front door that emulates an Amateur site (based on some imaginary amateur), so that I can take full advantage of dead traffic that doesn't sign up on my tour by popping up from my tour to 3 different pages:
1) a page which contains my cash-affiliate links
2) my amateur frontdoor's tour page
3) a link list that the amateur frontdoor site is featured on.
This in his opinion will help keep the high-bandwidth cost of TGP'n so much worthwhile by feeding the non-interested ppl into the amateur site, giving them more links to click and maybe a niche they are interested in.
In the end, my concern is if this sounds like a good idea. Should I stick to just TGP'n my Pro esque site? Is there any other good methods of driving traffic to my main Pro esque site other than buying traffic?
What is my best alternative to drive a good amount of traffic, that will generate a significant amount of signups within a 2 month period?
Any help would be appreciated :P
And if any of you webmasters need a perl/php guru lemme know. I can create any script you can dream up ;]
