You should look into using a non-administrator user for your every day computing. Most people are using the net with an admin account in XP or Windows 2000

It's usually as simple as creating a user level account & start using that instead.

Of course, your computer would have to be clean to begin with for that to be effective.

Also consider using a hardware firewall & software level firewall.
