There's also the current administration and repressive people who wish to make birth control harder to obtain, pharmacists who refuse to fill prescriptions, and social pressures from role models who preach against a perfectly natural act of sexually mature individuals. It's not a shocker that kids have sex anyway.
Should people be responsible for their actions? Hell yes. Abortion is not an easy decision either a couple or woman usually just go through. It is those people taking the responsibility for their actions. I personally don't like abortion, but I like the government telling me what i can and can't do even less. At least with laws we have now come regulation. Without those regulations women will still be having abortions.
As a slight tangent, look how well the War on Drugs is doing. It is essentially a war by the government, that is supposed to be by, of and for the people, against its own citizens. The gov't has no right to tell an adult what they can or cannot do in the privacy of their own homes which also goes to ridiculous laws like sodomy laws and gay marriage. What right does the government have to be in your bedroom or to tell you what is allowable in order to be free and happy?
