youtube - legal use. Have embed and download availible?
Hello,
I wonder if these situations are legal/viable in regards to youtube videos I'm embedding youtube vids that are legaly allowed. (ones without sony, emi, music etc.) 1. Could I also allow visitors to download these vids via filelocker or from my host? example: "download all the vids in highest quality here" 2. In the future can I allow content that people submit to be downloaded via my site? (ones without sony, emi, music etc.) I'm unsure and doubtful of this sort of use but want to get your thoughts. Thanks |

In a word, no.
Companies may license their material to be posted on YouTube. They may even allow that material to be embedded however at no point are they giving away a license to allow that material to be downloaded and placed in a file locker. |

What about the vids that do not have any commercial or licensed material?
My site is going to have for example, various average people talking about painting a car. I would like to put the vids in a download pack as a convenience for my visitors. Just average people talking about a certain subject. Thanks |

Secondly, without a license to redistribute content it is pretty much illegal to do so, the use to which you propose to use the content does not fall into the category of fair use. |

Youtube puts you at the mercy of its users, so things are very flexible and dynamic with it. Expect nothing.

I am wrestling with these issues for an idea I have. So far I've determined......
#1-You need to host the videos on your own hosted server to avoid TOS of sites like youtube, etc. #2-You need to have them uploaded by users/viewers/members so you have safe(r) harbor.
