It does happen alot, the military isn't sunday school by any means. That's why I think there will be problems with gays serving openly. It's something thats needed to happen for some time, but there will be problems, those that think it shouldn't have never been in the military. I will enlighten you...among other problems it will cause...is a reduction in re-enlistments of current...would be career military...especially in Combat Arms...as the largest percentage of those that were/are opposed to the repeal of DADT were/are serving in Combat Arms. It will also affect the enlistment rate.

What the percentage of loss will be remains to be seen. I suspect somewhere around the 10% mark at a minimum.

There will be other problems...specifically for those gays that choose to enlist...ranging from the minor to the severe.
