Ever drank Raw Milk?

It's funny reading about how our food supply is handled by the government
In California, it's illegal to sell raw milk?
http://news.bestmeal.info/2010/08/ca...-for-raw-milk/
Ron Paul is trying to fix that
So I read up on raw milk, I've had it before, just strained thru cheese cloth and it's a meal by it's self. It's healthy to drink, much more than pasteurized.
Pasteurized takes out a lot of the calcium and healthy bacteria thats good for us

Quote:
http://www.realmilk.com/rawvpasteur.html

This was written in 1938

Besides destroying part of the vitamin C contained in raw milk and encouraging growth of harmful bacteria, pasteurization turns the sugar of milk, known as lactose, into beta-lactose ? which is far more soluble and therefore more rapidly absorbed in the system, with the result that the child soon becomes hungry again.

Probably pasteurization's worst offence is that it makes insoluble the major part of the calcium contained in raw milk. This frequently leads to rickets, bad teeth, and nervous troubles, for sufficient calcium content is vital to children; and with the loss of phosphorus also associated with calcium, bone and brain formation suffer serious setbacks.

Pasteurization also destroys 20 percent of the iodine present in raw milk, causes constipation and generally takes from the milk its most vital qualities.
Of course this leads to the safe food act they just passed. Raw foods will be harder and harder to get, I grew a garden last summer. You can't find fresher or better tasting than that

People can circumvent the law by purchasing raw milk for their "pets" to drink.

I rarely drink milk anymore. As a kid we would go to the dairy and get a glass of milk for free.

Around here you can buy it but you have to go to the farm, they (the farmers) aren't allowed to come to town to sell it.

You're right. Nothing better than a glass of warm milk directly from the cow's utter!

never been much of a milk fan. When I was a kid, we used to go to a speciality store that only sold milk, by the liter.

This was raw milk, you take it home and boil it, let it cool then drink it. It formed a skin on top after boiling, which was skimmed and it was a treat.

We also used to make youhurt out of it during the summer months.

They sell raw milk here outside supermarkets. They advise you to boil it first as unboiled there's a risk of diarrhea. Apparently it has bacteria in we're not used to.

Skimmed milk is little more than colored water IMO. We drink the raw milk, after it's boiled.

In my youth I worked on a dairy farm. We always brought any raw milk to a near boil first before drinking it.

We washed the cows' teats before we put the milking cups on them but if you saw the barnyard shit float to the top of the milk tank ... you would want to "field pasteurize" any milk you drank too.

If you're going to boil it you might as well buy it pasteurised, it's the same as boiling but done super fast so the proteins won't be ruined.

You either drink the milk raw and risk botulism or whatever or you buy it pasteurized, and be safe.

Forget cow milk. Raw goat milk digests much better. The best raw goat milk comes from the Amish and is 100% grass fed. I feed it to our baby girl every day and her skin just glows. I also put blue green Algae into her drink. Watch out world.

California also produces the majority of Almonds in the world but a few years ago raw almonds were also made illegal. But you can still buy directly from the farmer. Organic Pastures in California sells them. You can make amazing almond milk!

Why do they always use "scare tactics" that seem false. Like claiming drinking milk frequently causes "rickets","bad teeth" and " constipation", thats strange , i have drank thousands of glasses of milk and never experienced any of those.

Yeah, because most farms where 97% of the food comes from are so fucking distusting that you have to kill the milk so it is "safe" to drink.

Try buying from a local small producer who lets you visit the farm to see their practices. I actually know the names of the goats who produce our milk. My daughter's favorite goat is named Grace and that goat eats better, is treated better, and is happier than 99% of humans.

Great stuff! Better to cook with, healthier... usually can't buy it because it ships badly, but when I worked on a dairy farm I used to have some straight from the udders, or we'd pour it into jugs from the bulk tank every day for breakfast.

If you run a regulated or at least hygienic farm, raw milk shouldn't do anything to you. My sister's kids still drink it many times a day...

:D
