Bitcoins for Porn

Are there any sites giving visitors the option to pay in Bitcoins?

Given the reservations some consumers have using their cards these days (after their past experiences with porn..), Bitcoin may prove an attractive way for our sites to accept payment.

We need to make it very simple for the visitor. Once they have an account, it will be incredibly easy for them to spend Bitcoins on their favorite sites.

Providing the currency is relatively stable, and time will tell, the advantages of transacting in this could be huge for us webmasters.

Won't work. Porn sites won't be able to scam their users to squeeze more money out of them than they are willing to part with. Plus, the currency of the bitcoins constantly fluctuates heavily because of its nature. So at times you would be paying 200$, and at other times 100$ for the same amount of coins.

Also, most people using bitcoins know how to get their porn the other way.

Mhmm... it could work on a per-item basis, I would guess. But the currency is especially anonymous... *however*, it does keep an paper trail behind all its transactions online where everyone can see. Sooo... if someone pays with an re-used address (discouraged and not recommended), someone could look up the real identity of the user rather easily with little detective work.

Right now those 'clips' are going at 1$ per 5MB... seems kinda like I'm being scammed for a 20 second clip. (Or the quality really blows for that filesize)

People savvy enough to use bitcoins are probably avid torrent users as well.

It's just the wrong demographic.

The affiliate program is interesting. There's no signup involved, all you do is send traffic using your bitcoin address as the affiliate ID. This simplicity does mean that people will be able to see how much you've made...

So where do these vids come from?

first serious player in adult industry adopting bitcoins may get a viral buzz traction in communities where you may have not had a reach otherwise. one of first small mom and pop businesses selling wool socks gained a lot of business being one of first businesses accepting bitcoins - they're mentioned every time where there is a talk about bitcoins and it's acceptance in businesses. another company which made street billboard advertising mostly bitcoin along with their domain name got a very good 'free' coverage on the internet. also one should keep in mind that accepting bitcoins may add more value to your bitcoins over time as bitcoin economy is in its infancy at this stage and value still grows. don't jump in blindly though, do your homework and research.

affiliate side is also not that bad, each month or any other period for instance you can update your bitcoin address in sponsor's program this way no one will know your total earnings. different addresses, same wallet - no problem.

'real' money can become very worthless pieces of papers very quick. in terms of value your real money not worse or better than digital money. real money inflate - gov prints more, value of your dollar goes lower. since 1920s dollar lost 95% of its value. you don't see a problem with it?

on another note today 1 bitcoin = 18 usd

What about programs offering payment to webmasters in Bitcoin?

Should be easy enough to do.. Solves the whole international webmaster cheque problem.

I am sure some webmasters would accept them. Especially for those smaller payouts.

As long as you have revenue of bitcoins flowing in you can do payouts in bitcoins (where for your accounting you can do conversion to your local currency at current exchange rates). I'm sure there will be people willing to accept bitcoins. at the moment its the most cheapest and effective way to transfer funds on a global scale (minus current shortcomings that Bitcoin may have due for it being very new (read: beta stage))

I would be willing to accept a couple thousand usd/month of my income in Bitcoin.

Hopefully it will take off, it could solve a lot of problems for us.

besides being a very unattractive site, things leaking like a sieve already.
you got a link to a toy store on top which apparently you dont get credit for and a banner at the bottom, un-bitcoin related.

but i think the basic bitcoin vod model will work like a charm if done right. noticed someone already got bitcointube.com along with bitcoinporn and bitcoinsex of course, so its likely more bitcoin sites will appear shortly.

would suck if all your life-savings turned into one loaf of bread sometime. I have seen it happening with my own eyes so to say, when USSR crashed my grandmas lifesaving turned into single carton of fire matches.

While USD (FRN) remains world reserve currency, for the lack of better alternative IMO, I personally have very pessimistic outlook on USD in any near time future although it is better than most other currencies. It will go weaker and weaker...
Meanwhile Bitcoin has a huge potential to grow. half a year ago 1 bitcoin was trading for $0.20, today its $18 and have peaked at over $30 recently, who know how much it will be worth tomorrow, in a year of ten years from now. Of course there is possibility of it going down, but it as well may cost $100, $1000, $10000, etc in the future because single bitcoin can be fractured almost infinitely, it is great for storing value.
So me holding a Dollar with every passing time gets less and less purchasing power over time, where bitcoin has tremendous possibility to grow and accumulate wealth, and maybe become world currency someday. I won't advise anyone dumping their whole life savings into Bitcoin or invest in something you don't understand what it is and how it works but I will certainly hold on to my little stash (just in case).

There may still be issues converting BTC to your local currency. For example, there seems to be no (easy/reliable) way to convert BTC to AUD right now. You'd have to do a person to person exchange.

Is kinda like a 3rd party bank for bitcoins. They have a shopping cart that you can put onto your site and it automatically adjusts to the market price at the minute. I think they convert all kinds of currencies too. Check it out.

That's true - hopefully an BTC>AUD solution is on the way.

From what I understand, it's not that difficult to go from BTC>USD however?

In any case, the BTC/USD will have to prove itself stable over time before mass-adoption.

Wikileaks accepting Bitcoin donations will be another catalyst for testing the stability of the currency, as is the existence of places like Silk Road.

STARE accepts bitcoins

STAREmagazine.com accepts payment in bitcoins side-by-side with credit cards.

staremagazine.com/Store/PurchaseIssue.asp?IssueID=115

It was a real bitch to get automated. There is NO automation in the C++ bitcoin client. But we figured it out.

You can now join the website, pay with bitcoins (it pulls the current exchange rate) and get instant access with the username/password.

The awesome part is the buyer does not have to disclose their name or address (which the website has no use for anyway). it's pretty slick, better than I thought it would be.

If any other webmasters are interested, PM me. Wait no, contact me at [email protected]

Hey bitpay, welcome to GFY! there's no PM here on this board. just put your site/contacts in the sig, whatever you're comfortable with just make sure you follow sig rules mentioned here

From what I understood integration of bitcoins on a website is not that difficult looking from php perspective tho, only thing required is to run actual bitcoind on the server and PHP could connect with it through RPC calls, there are maybe other methods too, I didn't look too deep yet. And I don't see no reason why ASP would not be able do RPC as well.

Thanks! Yes there are a few ways to do it. Matching up the incoming payments to the request is another tricky part, because these things do come in anonymously. Actually I will start a new thread on this topic.

The value can double or half within minutes. Pretty hard to consider stable. But there's money to be made if you're into speculating.

a currency that goes from 100 to 1000 in 3 weeks is not a currency.

It's also a payment system and store of value

The exchange rate is going to be volatile during the early growth phase, until the market size is considerably larger than today. There's no way around it, volatility is part of the early growth phase.

IMO we are just getting started. Maybe you missed the chance for ridiculously huge gains, but even today, so few people actually understand it and make use of it. It's revolutionary technology, and adoption is just getting started. Bitcoin is Internet in 1999 right now..

This thread so needed to be bumped. $18 lol I hope you held onto those coins bro.
