All that said, IF there's a greater percentage of inventions by white people than percentage of white people in technologically advanced society, 2 causes of that IMO are both the racism that does cause advantage towards white people (and there is some of it still...as much as myself and most people I know aren't racist, there's still a lot that are and a lot of racist actions by such people in power would rarely if ever be known to be racist) and the use of racism as an obstacle/excuse for a non-white person to lower their own ceiling. For what it's worth, even though I'm not convinced Obama has done a good job as president, the fact that he became president I think will at the very least help reduce that 2nd issue, which I think is good for our society. Color blindness goes both ways - people should be color blind and not treat others any differently based on color, and people should not let others' lack of color blindness bind them. |
