Avast users

Hi,

Recently, I've noticed that avast is poping-up (or pooping-up?) treating all porn sites (and not only) as malware... Regardless it doesn't do any harm and all sites are still displayed, there are two things that bothers me: that annoying pop-up and the fact that all other porn surfers might be influenced by it.

What do you think? What do you use?

V.

I use avast and have no problems, I'm not seeing any such warnings, maybe 1 site per week lately that I have run across.

I use Avast and this has never happened to me. I don't think that this is an Avast issue.

I use Avast and have only seen something like that a few times and it was a while ago. Try uninstalling and reinstalling it. Maybe you have malware installed on your system or something.

I use it and don't have that issue.

Just for giggles though, change the language in the settings to "pirate talk." It makes Avast a lot more fun to use.

Kaspersky is no better than Avast.

If you're going to get snobbish about using only the best rated, you need to use F-Secure or Avira. Avast is fine.

Here's what I'm getting, apparently it's about that sitevacuum.info... Other than that pop-up, every page loads. It doesn't show only on porn sites though.

ctrl+alt+del and look at your process list. do you have something called SiteVacuumClient.exe or something similar running? Just did some searching and it looks like malware.

Finally, a constructive idea, thanks Babaganoosh. The weird thing it was that it didn't show on my processes list, that's why I didn't care too much about it.

Initially, I thought sitevacuum.exe was a process of avast but it's not, it belongs to vlnet1.com - SiteVacuum.

Description: SiteVacuumClient.exe is located in a subfolder of "C:\Program Files". Known file sizes on Windows XP are 421,965 bytes (28% of all occurrence), 372,736 bytes, 479,323 bytes, 471,117 bytes, 479,309 bytes.
The file is a file without information about the maker of this file. The application starts when Windows starts (see Registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run). File SiteVacuumClient.exe is not a Windows system file. The program has no visible window. Program listens for or sends data on open ports to LAN or Internet. SiteVacuumClient.exe is able to record inputs, monitor applications. Therefore the technical security rating is 52% dangerous, however also read the users reviews.

Important: Some malware camouflage themselves as SiteVacuumClient.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder.

I wonder how it got into my computer... oh well, shit happens.

So you did have it? Did you get rid of it? If avast wouldn't remove it try something like malwarebytes.

The damn thing wasn't even whithin in the processes list but in the Registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run. Important: there were two RUN folders, LOL.

Chopped-it off for good, I hope.

Thanks.
