Is the Piracy of e-books an OPPORTUNITY or a problem?

Interesting phenomenon that might pose some opportunities for content creators

This is where reading between the lines kicks in.

Or better yet, have upsell links in the ebook.

Reading between the lines:

It's all about surfing all the free traffic. Also, with iPad compatible ebooks, sky is the limit in terms of advertising creativity and interactivity

even with that info , seems like a hard sell to a jury , victim just says it must have been stolen from his computer.

If a dvd at sale at walmart had the walmart stores info and bar code on file was found on torrents , is it not reasonable to assume someone could have stolen the dvd from the store, or even if it had customer purchase info , they could have had it stolen or sold/traded it ?

on that topic , is it legal to sell your dvd after you finished watching it

Actually im suprised someone hasn't created a website that lets you buy used copies of movies/games/music on the fly

for example . if i buy a dvd at bestbuy i can legally sell it to my friend i think. so if i sell it to a friend the next day for $1 and he sells it to a friend for $1 to 20 friends, the money changing hands is the same as the cost of the dvd.

If one were to make a website that lets you buy and sell used movies, you could make a system where "seeders" give up their used movies/games they bought at the store and sell them to the next guy waiting for $2 , he now sells the movie back to the original purchaser for lets say $1.90 , costing him .10 cents to watch a movie , purchaser makes 10 cents and has the movie back , he can now repeat the process. if 10,000 people buy his movie for 10 cents he has made $100 , and i believe it would all be legal ( not legal advice lol )

Truly, I don't care if some super rare event like that happens and it leaks... or even if someone pirated the copy they have, I'm not going to sue over it - I don't think others would either.

It stops 99.9999999% of the people from even thinking of pirating it. If you want to give it to your buddy, like a magazine/news paper, and he enjoys it - then sweet. Maybe he'll come buy from me down the road.

I also don't allow the rights to sell it, transfer it or give it to anyone else - even though it will happen. Each copy is uniquely generated for that person, it's not a duplicate of the same thing like a dvd or a book.

Plenty of sites sell used dvd's though... amazon for example.
