So what was new in that article? Nothing. He just stated the obvious.

You'd be surprised how often the obvious is overlooked by tunnel vision

Always have someone else or use a site to check your ranks.

Good read. But I need an article that tells the best or easiest way to regain your SERPs after you lose 95%+ of your SE traffic because you decided to change some links around or add/remove a section to your pages. The obvious would be to just undo what you did but sometimes if youre doing a lot to one site its hard to tell what the culprit is.

Many two word niche terms aren't generating a lot of traffic now. "* blog" for instance doesn't bring a lot of volume despite the number of webmasters who try to target it. I suppose long ago it did much better but now "* tube" brings ten times the traffic. Sign of the times I guess.

Did you buy links at one of those (easy to spider and spot) text link brokers? Also, Google webmaster tools can give some clues as well (although it's not a slam dunk)

No, nothing shady.this just happens a lot because I'm always thinking of a better or different way to move traffic around on my sites. Usually I just undo some code I added or something but once in a while I wont be able to figure it out and its like starting all over again with building up SE traffic and positions.
