What's the media's report over the Japan's earthquake in your country?
Here, local stations are flooded with words like apocalypse and end of the world.

It was a huge earthquake, a true catastrophic event and I can't imagine what those people are going through.

But it is not the end of the world, you can't say that on the news.
Or maybe we should have some new words invented for the real deal...

it grabs more eyes that's why... doesn't matter if it is a big deal or not they jump at the chance... This is a big news story, but read some canadian news sites on it.. check out bbc.. its not as sensational sounding... at least what i have read anyway.

We get some Japanese stations here in Thailand. That's what I'm watching and it's pretty sobering. The western media just grabs bits and pieces.

This is a disaster for the Japanese people. No doubt about it.
But it seems to me that the nuclear part of the disaster has overshadowed the effects of the tsunami on the thousands who lost their lives or their homes. But it would do that, because the thought of being affected by nuclear fallout makes wider ranging headlines for newspapers across the world.
There's a high element of selfishness in many people's interest in this, but I don't think you can blame them for worrying about how this may affect them personally. It's just a shame that in the media's race to cover this, some reports are blatantly sensationalist and of no use to anyone.
