Really? PHX named "Most Miserable City"?? Have you walked outside???

http://www.abc15.com/dpp/news/region...,-do-you-agree

I am sorry but this is ridiculous. Unlike some people, I dont think PHX is the best city in the world by any means, but the most miserable? You have to be kidding me. And what is the LEAST miserable city? BOSTON! Really? Seriously? Boston?

Hell, I noticed that my city, Atlanta, was only slightly LESS miserable than Las Vegas. Go figure.

(yes, I did look at the criteria but commenting on the headline was just way more fun)

I would agree, it is a culture thing. People in PHX are messed up in the head and think the world owes them everything.

I go to Phoenix at least twice a year and I wouldn't call it miserable by any means. Maybe in the summer when its fucking hot and hard to be outside. even then.

Complete bullshit, way to generalize an entire big city. The article was based on only 3 criterias, unemployment, gas prices, and the change of home prices. Since the housing market downturn has hit Phx as hard as any other city, and unemployment has been rising, I can see how it made it to the top.

Yeah using such a broad descriptive term like "miserable" when you are only using the 3 criteria of unemployment, gas prices, and the change of home prices is a bit misleading.

I was born and raised here. 80% of those now here are rejects from somewhere else who are just lame miserable fucks.

I go to California and man the people are just so open and friendly.
Here in Arizona, they are pieces of shit thinking everyone is out to harm or get them.

METH capitol now. Valley of the spun. I could go on and on.

I for one am a very open sociable person, and when i meet new people in Arizona it is miserable talking to these fucks.
But right over the Cali border, the entire mentality is 100% different to the positive degree.

I hated the weather in Phoenix. It's springtime in Phoenix, and Friday it will be 100 degrees there. Pass. Today in Sacramento it's going to be a blistering 79 degrees, same on Friday.

I was raised here also and all those people you call rejects are people who left other states to come to Phx because they didn't like where they were living. Phx had more growth than any other city from 2002-2006 and many of those people bought homes and are now upside down on them, hence the "miserable" in the article.

This statement is hilarious "I go to California and man the people are just so open and friendly." I have a home in San Diego also and love the weather and ocean, but to call the people in Cali as being "so open and friendly" is laughable. If you'd said somewhere in the Midwest or South I could have believed you, but California has largely had the perception as being stuck up and non friendly by people in other states.

If you don't like it here so much, why are you still here? You should be thankful you live in Phx and not Cali, where you'd have to worry about the 3 strikes law.

People moved to Arizona because it was dirt cheap and it was dirt cheap because it was miserable.

Certainly affordable home values played a part in the growth, but Phoenix was already the 6th largest city, (now the 5th) before that period. Believe it or not, many move here because of the weather, not in spite of it. The affordable home pricing had nothing to do with it being "miserable", it was because new home builders created a massive supply and pricing only rose as demand finally caught up with that supply.

I live in an area that consistently ranks in the top 20 areas to raise a family in the US. I enjoyed many aspects of living many years in So Cal, but know that I wouldn't have wanted to raise a family there.

If you want miserable, try being completely upside down in your home as everyone leaves your area and it becomes a virtual ghost town. https://gfy.com/showthread.php?t=979171

I didn't know that about Phoenix, but I can see it. Growing up I loved snow until I grew up - snow was less fun, a pain in the ass to clean up, dangerous to drive in, and just over all fucking miserable - I hate waking up and being cold. When I discovered there was places where it never snowed, I knew I would never return "home". I can't remember the last time I saw snow and I'm okay with that.

From a weather perspective, I love where I live. A bit cold in the winter but never snows, warm summers but rarely too hot (and never a dry heat), and it doesn't rain often (although this year it's rained a lot in the past two months and I think we are like 200% for the year).

Lol, much of your comments have to do with drugs, I don't associate with that crowd so I wouldn't know. If by rejects you mean people that are rejecting where they are currently living and moving to Phx to get into warmer weather and a better life, then yes you are correct. I'll ask it again, if you hate it here so much, why don't you move? Your life consists primarily of hanging out with dopeheads and whores, you're most likely going to be miserable wherever you are.

Truth. I can't say whether it's miserable or not, but last year at the forum I was absolutely blown away by the amount of hot chicks per square inch in that city. Like seriously, I actually said to someone, this is unbelievable.

I like Phoenix: winter - summer - hot - cold. Great city and a great place to base some serious travelling from. Many great places within 2-3 hours such as Sedona, Tombstone, Biosphere, Tuscon, Mingus Mountains, Jerome, Mongollon Plateau, and more.

Phoenix has done a good job revitalizing downtown with the metro rail system. Other cities only wish they could do such a great job. Austin can't get one line to run right during the daytime, Mon - Fri. I feel safe walking down Central in the evenings visiting restaurants and coffeehouses.

Nice place.
