Reasons To Request New IP From Hosting

Yellow,

I need to request some IP's from my host and they need to know why I need them. What are some good reasons I can use to get these IP's from them?

I don't see how that's any of their business.

They ask probably because some people use it for spamming.

Uh, it is their business. You cannot be allocated IP's unless you conform to ARIN guidelines for the USAGE of those IPs.
This is even more crucial now as a lot of hosts are cracking down on IP allocations due to IPv4 basically being used up.

Welcome to the interwebz.

Do you have any good suggestions?

Well, what do you actually plan to use them for? It might be enough to begin with, and no need to lie.

It doesn't have to be a lie. It's all about wording it properly.

I don't want too many sites on the same IP address.

I usually just email and ask for 20 or so new ip's cause I'm adding more domains and they are added for me within the hour.

Any host that asks what you'd be using with your IP's it's time for a new host. Any host which shuts down your email server if you send to many emails... time for new host.

Any host which governs in any way the way you choose to do business... time for new host.

no offense, you have a host in your sig, but you do not know why a host would ask for an IP.

IP's are very over populated these days. There are not enough IP's out there, which is why ipv6 was created. The host has to tell ARIN what they are using the IPs for. ARIN has the right to take IPs away if they are not being used. No host wants this.

Also as someone here mentioned. It is common place for spammers to ask for a lot of IPs. They change IPs frequently to stop from getting ip blocked.

So yes, it is the hosts business. It is not a hard process to say I am running multiple websites and do not want them on the same IPS, they just need some kind of answer.
