WP Super Cache + eAccelerator or APC or XCache for PHP

I more prefer w3 total cache rather than wp super cache.
It has more options, and many things to tweak, but its harder to setup.
- caching
- gzipping
- minifing
- object cache
- browser cache
- etc
@ DVTimes, try cleaning and optimizing DB also
Also, make CSS sprites.
..
..
at last: configure CDN for static components
and if you need more computing power, make it on two dedicated servers

I have a wp site with 100k+ posts that is still fast. Unless slow query logs are pointing to database efficiency, I'd look at other issues like plugins you've added, or the theme you're using.

60k unique daily WP site....

W3 Total Cache with memcached for page caching, disk for database cache and APC for object caching.

The site slows down when the cache has to rebuild.
