What are the good template based website backends?

Name me some of the good template based website programs. Something that is easy set-up and you just drop whatever template you like into it.

Not Wordpress.

I don't have exact requirements. But generally 5-10 page sites, with contact form, maybe with options to add a gallery/portfolio section and other add-ons.

I'm talking multiple sites by the way, not a single site!

Not Wordpress.

Code it in HTML. If you need something for stuff like the above.
With 1 or 2 snippets of PHP done and done.

And other add ons?
So you need something so bat shit stupid easy you think its worthy of an open platform for pluggin development.

OK.

Are we supposed to be webmasters and developers here? Am I on the wrong board? WTF am I doing here? Who are you? Whats is this place?

So no recommendations for existing platforms? What about the templates?

I've edited my last reply.

Thats what I am getting at. You want something with a simple email form and a simple gallery feature. There is not one. Because you are supposed to be capable enough of making something like that as a webmaster/developer or even a internet entroupeneer.

No one will develop on something that simplistic and there are hundreds of scripts already available for those sort of features but regarding theme design no. Not unless you want to step into something more advanced back end wise.

Not to mention Back end wise do you need a Database? will it use a flat file system? Can it work on PHP? How about Server requirements? Should the script be free? How many photos should this system be good for and at what point will it start failing with content loads? Is Jquery OK? Do you want AJAX? DO you think maybe it should be done in RUBY? How should it scale globally? Should it work with Cloud Computing using multiple networks to update multiple platforms??

Does it need a back end admin?

I am having a hard time discerning you are trolling or serious.
In all honesty if you do not know the basics I would advise you leave this part of the internet alone and come back once you have a better idea of the technical capacity of the internet and what you need to know to be successful on it.

I can understand you might be a very smart man and thats great but if you are not sure how a simple website can be constructed with simple features with no administration back end and no database yet expect a full back end plugin system for theme developers...

its just kinda fucking odd.

You are looking for a simple CMS then it sounds like. Preferably one that comes with a variety of templates.

A quick search shows Pulse ranks well.

Looks like it might do the trick. I'll take a closer look in the morning.

I need multiple 5-10 page, static HTML based sites generated quickly and simply. Maybe 2000-2500 sites. Not graphic heavy. Just looking for a quick way to do this. If I can't get something off the shelf I'll look at a coder, just want to know what's there at the moment.

Thats a decent script but no plug-in theme support.
The one Brujah linked looks good but again no theme support and requires customizations and has no pluggin features.

then stick to just xhtml/css maybe with a php templating script, not smarty, something along the lines but simplier.

something like this

http://codecanyon.net/item/php-template-class/110173

or

http://codecanyon.net/item/advanced-...ocessor/130962

together with html. im sure their are free scripts too.

$6 isnt much if it will save you time.
