The Taliban didn't even exist until 1994. I guess anyone with a rag on his head is part of the Taliban?

I think it is hilarious that Reagan spent his last years as a drooling imbecile. Small justice for kicking thousands of people out of mental hospitals and onto the streets.

Vendzilla stop being a pussy. The only reason Americans are for the war they are in today is they can stand back and fight from miles away. If they had to actually fight and risk their lives to the extent that their enemies do they would all be running back to the US with their tails tucked between their legs.
The thing is though that those people who are the moral equivlent to the founding fathers haven't changed, their message has been consistent all along. However the United States has changed from an economic powerhouse and the land of the free to a land of trained murderers thinking they are any better than any other murderer or rapist out there (including Osama Bin Laden) and using their advanced weaponry and uneven fire power to bully the weaker people in the world. |

Reagan, more directly, was more interested in his own history and russia, and totally ignored the dangers of his actions, which was already backfiring on us. That picture, is the parents of the children (now adults) we fight today. We created this mess..... You may have been around but you were as brain dead then as you are today.

Aleksandr Yakovlev ~ It played no role. None. I can tell you that with the fullest responsibility. Gorbachev and I were ready for changes in our policy regardless of whether the American president was Reagan, or Kennedy, or someone even more liberal. It was clear that our military spending was enormous and we had to reduce it. The cold war was ending BEFORE Reagan was in office, all he did was spend, spend, spend, exactly like the Russians, creating the exact same problem they had, the only difference was, ours was MUCH larger AND NEVER STOPPED screwing us over MUCH more, and those ideals are what is bankrupting our Country today... He's such a brilliant person to support.

Reagan lowered the price of oil? Guess you can do that when you're giving middle eastern terrorists weapons.

Let me rephrase your reply to how it should read... "Reagan got America to spend more money, bankrupting America, when the Soviets were already bankrupt." Reagan bankrupted our Country FAR more than the Soviets ever reached, and you think we won the cold war? Hellllloooo, using your logic, it would mean we lost, by a shit ton.

He took office in 81, just a couple years after the Soviets started using a new submarine called the Alpha Class, a submarine that could out run one of our torpedo's then after Reagan took office, they came out with the Typhoon class submarine, the biggest submarine in history loaded with more destructive power that any one platform in history, they made a movie about that sub, you might have seen it? It wasn't ending, it was escalating. You may not agree with how he did it, but the fact stands, he did it and the cold war was over. I was in the Navy in the middle of it and I knew far more than you can look up on the internet and I'm glad it's over......

So you're against using what assets you have to end a war? Kinda retarded thinking isn't it?

What I did was tell you that the Soviets were bankrupt before Reagan started spending. The game was over for them BEFORE Reagan did a damn thing. So what did Reagan actually do? He bankrupted America, end of story, that's ALL he did. It is impossible that you knew more back then than we can lookup today... 100000000000% impossible! It's not called the information age for shit and giggles.

laughing at all of you that once again miss the point..
the defense contractors made a fortune during the cold war and it was fear mongering that got the public behind the massive spending.. we spent, russia spent... russia couldnt sustain the spending and a large percentage of their people suffered as a result.. ever heard of the russain bread lines.. now 30 years later, we are bankrupt... and instead of the defense contractors getting rich at the expense of the people, its the banks.. and here we are, you guys fighting about a puppet president that was just as responsible for the state the US is in today as both Bush's and one Obama... you guys will never learn that its the large industries that are fucking you over and using politicians to do their dirty word through legislation... quit pointing fingers and figure out how to do something to start a movement that grows large enough to completely dismantle and then rebuild the system that all of us seem to be so unhappy with... . |

the people werent behind the first gulf war and things would have turned ugly if there would have been mass US casualties.. after 9/11 everyone got behind the war and now we have a huge military base in the middle east that will be used to continue or conquest to control every resource we can get our hands on... the US will be engaged in military conflict from this point on... there will never be peace again... . |

But to address your point, sweet, new technology is cool, but that does not mean we needed a super arms build up costing us our entire Country. They would have built up either way, they would have went bankrupt either way, even if they didn't build up, they were already fucked. Which is the actual point, the actual result, the true facts to what happened - ie: America being bankrupt. If you support any part of what happened with the cold war through the 80's then you directly support our Country going bankrupt, because THAT IS THE ONLY THING THAT HAPPENED, as a result of all the policies/buildup, etc related to Reagan.

We all know know they're a bunch of puppets, but the reality is, THIS system is in place, so we can only discuss the manipulations of everything based on this system. Talking about some movement that isn't going to happen unless someone way the hell up in the power chain, very quietly makes it happen, is a total waste of time. Preaching to others to do something is rather hypocritical when you fail to do something yourself. Being so, lets talk about the issues of today, and IF it changes in the future, we can discuss those details at that time.
