:stop People who let their kids on Facebook

Okay so I have this huge family. After a few years on FB, I have most of them on there. A slip of common sense, I let a couple little girls (like 8-9) on there - cousins/nieces, and at the time didn't think it was so good (their parents created the accounts for them) but I rethought it when one 7 year old commented on a pic of middle fingers.

NO KIDS ON FACEBOOK, I MEAN IT. I WILL NOT ADD YOUR KIDS TO MY FRIEND LIST.

I had to finally delete and post a message about this. I wonder if their parents will be upset. lol probably

There are situations that take place on facebook every day that are way more serious than a kid commenting on a middle finger. I understand your concern...but a kid commenting on a middle finger being shown on facebook? How would you have acted if you had access to the technology (such as facebook) back when you were that age?

Don"t worry about it and loosen up a little bro.

It's kind of like when people bring kids to an adult party, then get mad at you when you say one curse word. Fuck you, get a babysitter for your kids.

Good to know it is not only me that have problems with this... I have a few cousins and some of my friends kids, that wanted to be friends. But, as I understand they will not see it if I delete them, so I will do that. Not all my messages are for young ears/eyes, specially when I have my famous youtube/spotify/facebook/gin&tonic nights..... :D

Didn't you have some big pissy rant a while back about facebook and how you deleted your account.

"A slip of common sense" are you fucking retarded who would let a 7 year old child play on facebook?

I hate it. I don't add any of my friend's children. One even made a page for her daughter who's not even able to type yet. WTF?

I'm an adult, I speak like an adult and people discuss adult things on my page. End of story.

Seriously, that is what you are worried about? That a kid comments on a picture of middle fingers? Besides the fact that I really do not see a problem with that, I would be more worried about crazy idiots who are hunting for young flesh on the nets?

Anyway, in NL we are not that upset about kids and pictures of middle fingers.

Yes, totally. It's for adults.

The middle finger thing is just one example. There was already profanity in the comments, then in comes little cousin and her comment was "wow."

She's like 6 or 7, and has only ever said two words to me in her life as she is super shy. So she's looking at pics of my friends giving the finger? LOL nah... and I know her mom would tell me she does not care. But I do!

So it's done. haha

Secondly, a general rule of thumb is that you shouldn't post things on Facebook you wouldn't want to world to see.

Thirdly, I knew about the middle finger when I was 7 and laughed about it. Thank God my parents were not the type of freaks that hid me from the world. I was prepared for it and moved out at 18 ... I wasn't like one of those children that couldn't get off Momma's tit and is still living at home at 23.

I would not freak out that much (and you probably don't). Try to look at it more realistically. They probably gonna pick up on these things anyway, so better if it's within your own family. On the other hand, if you don't want any kids to see any kind of stuff, then don't let them. But don't make a big fuss about it because that only makes them more curious.

It's like making a hole in a wall and put up a sign above it. "Do not look through the hole". What do you think happens?

BTW, I do agree that children should not be allowed on these social networks. Not so much what they can pick up or see, I'm more worried about those scary people who "like" kids (you know what I mean right?). That is more disturbing for me. Fortuantely NL and US are working together also to get these idiots behind bars. I think it was last week they arrested a few which were using tor sites (not bit torrent but tor)

In in NL you have Hyves. It's similar to Facebook. I think 75% or more are underaged kids. I have warned kids (and parents) I know many times when they post there BB pin, phone numbers and address details. Parents should know kids are that naive.

I've seen this kid's Dad curse on his page, and then his Mom will follow up telling him to watch his mouth cause his kid is on there. LOL

I'll have none of that, ya dig.

Yeah someone told me FB has lists like Google Plus. Haven't messed with it though, not too worried. I love all my family on my account, and I don't curse in front of those kids at parties either. I left one 12 year old on there because I know her and her Mom really well though, she's almost 13. But no little grade school kids, no more.

I also don't care for the BIEBER FEVER, so I had several little girls hid already anyhow. Not my thang.

I don't think Cherry is saying the middle finger was that big of a deal, just saying that it was the wake up call that there's no reason small children should be on facebook.

1- kids should not be able to roam free online.. for that I blame the parents not the kids
2- FB has privacy setting.. Tag me in a pic nobody on my FB will see it.. etc.. as an adult not using the privacy settings etc.. is just stupid.
