What is the best video camera for $1000 dollars?

Gfy camera experts,

what is the best all around video camera price/quality for around a grand?

I know its on the cheap side, but these days there are some incredible deals for the quality.

I trust the gfy experience over e-reviews.. Just looking for a good place to start.

Really appreciate any helpful answers as I don't know much on the subject.

my Canon T3i kit was 800 something with a 10% off best buy coupon. 1080i video and doubles as your 18mp still camera. the T2i is 100 bucks cheaper but you cant rotate and flipout the LCD (useful for my pov stuff) if you shoot abroad this cam doesn't arouse suspicion in customs like a big ass DV tape camera with chargers, battery backs, blank tapes etc would. you just look like a normal tourist with an SLR

Canon 60d is good for video and costs $999. Doesn't do 1080p @ 60fps...but that's not a huge deal.

Canon Vixia line is nice.

My next camera will be the T2i or T3i. not having to EVER deal with mini-dv tapes or carrying two cameras... that's smart.

Canon HF S21 or HF S30.
Unlike with DSLRs like the T3i you can actually shoot longer than 12 minutes (or until the thing overheats) with a dedicated camcorder. Unless you NEED the (admittedly awesome) look DSLR videos can achieve due to its larger sensors, go with a real camcorder.

Does the t3i have auto focus, or do you have to continuously manually focus it?

the canon t2i is actually better for video. not sure about porn stuff. cause you really need to limit movement to get a good picture and the sound isnt great.

you can get a used vixia for around 400 on ebay, ive never bought one but may fuck with one. the only limitation of the t3i and t2i is the autofocus, you can set it before you start recording but once recording you have to manual focus it. so long as you dont move around much (i shoot pov and just have the chick move while im mostly stationary) this is not a problem. the slr servos make that loud mechanical noise in focus thats the crappy part

All great suggestions,

and I am truly appreciative. Will be checking out each camera mentioned.

I am simply looking for the best overall picture, focus, all around camera. I know the dslr's have a kickass "film" look to it.. but I don't think it's a suitable place to start for me.

I need something that has no problems shooting in low light situations, and something that isn't jumpy as hell like the smaller hd handycams which are almost impossible to keep them still while they are on any kind of zoom unless it's on a tripod.

I was eyeballing the canon vixia before.. the instant auto-focus and the 24p setting caught my attention.. I do like my footage more "film like" but I know it's hard to get for a limited budget.

You don't happen to have any landscape sample footage laying around for a bro to peep at do you? A vacation or something? Yeah your thumbs look really clean.. but would love to see what it looks like on something more wide.

Another thing I have noticed with my other full hd cams, is that the image looks really good when sized down on a computer monitor, but on a bigscreen the clarity doesn't quite hold up.. would love to fix that as best as possible.
