Associates Re-Enrollment FAQ
Why are you inviting me to re-enroll in the Associates Program?
California recently enacted a law (AB 155) that allows us to re-open the Amazon Associates program for residents of California. As a result, we have invited all California Associates whose accounts were closed due to prior legislation to re-enroll in the Associates Program.
Who can be re-enrolled?
Only Californian Associates whose accounts were closed by Amazon as a result of the now-repealed earlier law (AB X28 1) are eligible to re-enroll. The re-enrollment page can be found here. When you go to the re-enrollment page and sign-in, you will see a list of your accounts that are eligible for re-instatement. If you do not see your account listed, check to be sure that you are logged in with your primary Associates email address and password. Only accounts currently closed will appear in this list. If your account continues not to appear, please contact contact Customer Service.

What do I have to do to re-enroll?
Simply go to the re-enrollment page and login with your former Associates email address and password. Agree to the terms and conditions of the program by clicking the check-box beside the link to the Operating Agreement and click the Re-Enroll button. All of your eligible Associates accounts will be re-opened right away.

How long will it take for my account to become active?
Once you?ve completed the steps to re-enroll, your Associates account will be active immediately and you will be eligible to earn advertising fees on any qualifying sales made after you have re-enrolled.

What will my Associate ID be?
You will have the same Associates ID and Tracking IDs as you had prior to the closure. You don?t need to make any changes to special links created with your Associate ID in the past.

Will my Tracking IDs still be valid?
Yes ? all of your Tracking IDs will be reinstated with your Associates ID. You don?t need to make any changes to special links created with your Tracking IDs in the past.

What about traffic I referred while my Associates account was closed?
Californian Associates who re-enroll will begin earning advertising fees for traffic they refer as soon as they agree to the terms of the Operating Agreement. Traffic referred while your account was closed will not be eligible for advertising fees.

What do I do if I still have questions?
If you still have questions regarding re-enrolling in the Associates Program, please contact Customer Service.
Maybe Jerry Brown learned something since his last failed governorship?

There are so many products there I could promote the shit out of, but I've always heard about their low payouts. Thoughts?

One of the nice things about Amazon is the large selection of products...

If I send someone there to buy a 46" TV I get perhaps $75 for the TV and then another $35 for the DVD's, DVD player and HDMI cables they bought... along with the coffee cups and the sunglasses...

You get the picture.

It wasn't practical to keep affiliates from California...

if they chose to keep affiliates from CA, then they would need to start collecting 10% or whatever tax on all sales to that state... for a pretty low margin business like amazon, 10% is HUUUGE....

that would clearly hit their bottom line more than "cutting off" a few affiliates... any serious affiliate from CA would just incoroporate in some other state anyway and business would continue as usual... the only affiliates really effected would be some amateurs earning $50/month....
