odd question about digital cameras

I've been looking for digital camcorders, reading a lot about them here at GFY but a single question remains:
Why I should buy a damn good camera like the Sony VX2000 if I'm going to compress the movie the most I can?
I mean, isn't it enough buy a good DV camera? Or even two of them to shot multi-angles, backup porpouses...?

any input is appreciate

Hi,

Lens quality for one. I am no expert on this subject, but the higher lines the better quality even when you reduce the footage to a smaller size ratio.

Techinically speaking: "garabage in, garabage out"

A good site to find out more is dv.com though you do have to register.

Hope this helps,

More specifically,

Noise in the image, noise gets compressed, compressed video looks worse than it has to.

Besides, as stated above, good glass makes a big difference. Better color, better focus. Three chips give you MUCH better image quality and much less noise.

Do a test, take a good DVD clip and a clip from a VHS tape. Compress each exactly the same. Even if you "compress the hell" out of it, you will see a real difference. This will demonstrate what I mean.

As for cameras, the TRV950 is a good compromise between quality and price. It is three chips, good glass and about half the price (or less) than the VX2000 (PD150)

low light performance.

for gonzo type candid video work in all types of lighting environments you need a 3-chip camera and a good lense.

if you have plenty of light then any DV cam will be OK for web work.
