Bounce Rate Analysis...

I've been doing some research within my analytics and I noticed some bounce rates are all over the place. Some are 70% and others are 30%. What's considered to be a good bounce rate and are there any measures to take to try and drop this number?

On the pages where you see a 30% bounce rate, take what you're doing well and apply those to the pages where you see a 70% bounce rate.

As far as a good bounce rate goes, I'm not positive, but I believe it has to be under 20% to stay ranked on the 1st page of google. Again, this could be wrong or have changed since my last thorough reading.

I doubt there are any such concise and restricting metrics. It will always be dependent on compared performance to your competition.

Also consider all the factors of site content / structure that influence visitor behavior.

I have many sites with a bounce rate of about 50% that are places 1, 2 or 3 for their respective niche with a large amount of returning visitors.

I don't think there's a set bounce % to be on the first page bc along with all the other factors used in ranking your site, it depends on the competition, but its good to get it as low as possible. Internal linking is crucial

I personally look at pages that have a high bounce rate (maybe 65%+), check if maybe the titles and descriptions don't properly match the content and make changes if needed. That's pretty much the purpose of bounce rate but it's nice to have a tool to check it.

Making it extremely, ridiculously, overly obvious just what you want the user to click on can make a huge difference.
