What do you consider quality traffic?

Is it hard links? Search engine traffic? Purchased pay per click? ...?

Every time someone is complaining about bad ratios there are 10 people telling them their "traffic is shit" or not quality. Which is usually not the case.

I believe all US traffic (or tier 1 countries) is quality. The most important factor is the delivery method. If you have annoyed the surfer or tricked them into your sales pitch or tour then you have "created" shit traffic, even if they're from the US.

It is better to have banners/links that get a low amount of clicks and aren't misleading. For example a banner or text link that gets 30 clicks a day and converts at 1:100 is much better than one in the same spot that gets 200 clicks a day and converts 1:1000. Most importantly you will make more $$$, and you're also not wasting traffic and saturating paysites.

I know everyone likes to keep their secrets, but I think helping everyone convert their traffic can only help the industry as a whole. There are far too many people with a lot of traffic who just throw it at something semi-related and take whatever conversions they get. If 10 sites trick a person into viewing a paysite then that surfer will always have a negative thought about the site and will never join, however 1 good sales pitch could have had that same person dying to join the site.

I think putting a lot of though into landing page can help convert traffic. I tend to direct traffic from different sources to different pages and then monitor which traffic converts better.
I think not having too many distractions on a landing page can help better conversion.

Clicked descriptive text links, Clicked descriptive banners, Search Engine, PPC, Relevant Hard Links, etc... originating from countries that you have the capability of actually billing, if the affiliate program or your program can't process the payment then all your doing is wasting bandwidth on users that can't buy. Mainly traffic where an actual click was made on a link or banner that describes exactly what they will find once they arrive instead of skimmed, blind, popunder etc... Can you make money off of blind, skimmed, popunder sure but it's a hell of a lot harder than actual clicked traffic unless the originating site is a dead on match and usually only good for boosting trades/alexa. How many webmasters just buy traffic don't analyze it and continue buying thinking it's great shit? Without analyzing what you are spending then money out the window. How many ask the affiliate program what countries can you not process as it makes no sense to send traffic if they block it or can't bill it? All it takes is a simple email to the program to see what traffic sources they can convert. Example: anyone promoting Streamate if you are sending traffic from...

Yes, implimenting a geo scrip to direct your traffic to the correct country is also helpful. I am based in UK, got most of my traffic from UK but have a script that directs US traffic to a dedicated US targetted page.

My point in the OP is that no premium country traffic is any better than another, it's how you get it or what you do with it.

Sorry. I mis-interpreted what you said.

I guess my point was that "quality" is subjective. I'd rather use the term "value", because that implies a cost component, which is missing in a lot of discussions about traffic.

It depends by the domain name mostly. In same networks a domain can convert 10 times better then another using same system (skimmed, popunder, click or else).
Then it depends by the country, nothing is as good as USA, follows north europe like NL DK NO SE.
Also some countries not sold as HD can be good, I like traffic from ZA (South Africa) as there's some good sales for cams there. New Zealand is not in HQ lists of many but is not that bad. Some sites like treafficshop sell you Hungary within "HQ traffic", I disagree
Also GReece is in all the HQ filters but I think it should no more be.
Finally I think the pay per credit card sale is outdated in tube and myfreecams era, I tend to value the traffic by regular free users, as in long run who stay lots there may buy.
