He's one of my favorite authors...It's just something about the way he writes that makes me not able to put one of his books down. It's also very cool how he can easily switch from writing horror to writing fantasy and other genres.

Yeah. I didn't recognize it till he mentioned the name 'McVries'. Read it about 20 years ago in the Bachman Books. Just Googled it and noticed it also has The Running Man, which is probably why I bought it.

I read "the fog" some years ago, very good. Then I saw the movie, very disappointing. Apparently he was very unhappy with the result of the filming of The Shining but I think the movie is awesome, I never read that book though. Sober stopping with drinking and other addictions is really easy... we'll chat about it

I read this book about two months back, it's a good one. The ending is great.

"It" could be the worst, only good thing was Tim Curry and his Pennywise wasn't nearly evil or brutal enough. They made an NC-17 novel as a TV mini-series... "The Langoliers" utter crap adaptation "The Stand" good fucking god. IMO the best adaptations have been "The Shining" (both versions), "Creepshow" (possibly the best of his horror adaptations) Carpenter's "The Fog" "Shawshank Redemption" "The Dead Zone" movie "Stand By Me" "The Green Mile" "Carrie" "Misery" I think King gets a bad rap because of the bad adaptations, but in reality he is one of America's great living fiction writers. .

Looking forward to the miniseries starting on the 11th. Bag of Bones. Not sure why, most of them usually suck.

One of the biggest reasons movies like Shawshank, Green Mile, etc, were such great adaptations is because they basically followed the plot and dialogue of the books to a T. In Shawshank it's literally word for word to the point that one might not even call it an "adaptation". Anyone who hasn't read any of his books preferring only the movies is truly missing out.

I just finished his new one 11/22/63 and really enjoyed it. Long book and takes a while to get to the main part of the story, but the ride is worthy of the destination. Definitely a nice twist of time travel. If they get the right director and main character for this it could be a really good movie like The Green Mile or Shawshank Redemption.

I don't like many King movies, simply because the books are so good. Shawshank is an exception to that. I have watched it countless times.
If you want a long read, start on the Dark Tower series. It's good stuff.

Best Steven King Book : THE STAND (especially the full extended 1000+ page version).
Best Steven King Movies: CARRIE, THE MIST. (OMG MIST - WOW - What an ending) Worst Steven King movie: All the rest.
