File sharing sites scramble to avoid raids, one bans the US altogether

According to Insider:

The recent Megaupload raid has sent chills through many of the most popular file sharing sites on the web, and now they?re scrambling to avoid a similar fate.

Earlier this morning we reported that Filesonic voluntarily disabled file sharing between its users today, and now the word is out that VideoBB and VideoZer have both reportedly closed their rewards programs and are mass-deleting infringing files and banning users.

More Cyberlocker Sites Tumble After Megaupload Bust

SAN FRANCISCO ? More cyberlockers are either ending affiliate programs or calling it quits in the U.S. altogether in wake of the Justice Department's bust of Megaupload.com.

Following the takedown of Megaupload for alleged criminal copyright infringement violations, leading players FileSonic and Fileserve disabled sharing functionality and ended their affiliate programs.

This has to be good, if you are anyone that creates things and sells them online.

The next step would be ISP blocking of torrents, because that's probably the only way you could stop those.

Fileserve resumed sharing functionality. No affiliate program though, so it looks more like a final money grab to sell as much premium accounts as possible before the final closure.
