Meanwhile.... in Düsseldorf

Cross winds are a bitch happy I were not on those flights.
Any good stories or videos?

Recently spend 18 hours on a non stop flight from LAX to BKK (15 hours the other way) and the take off took 60 secs because of the weight of the plane even after they reduced the number of pax from 200+ to 145 which gives a lot of room in monkey class but you just wait and wait for the plane to take off usually its less than half that time on the runway and not to much room to spare on the runway after takeoff.

How was the TSA flying out of LAX?

I would have shit myself.

About 12 years ago I was flying out of LA. While we were ascending over the water, jets full go, the plane lost power. They told us over the speaker what was going on and we would be landing and to make sure our seat belts were fastened. They were able to turn the plane around and take it right down and land with no problems at all. But it was still scary as hell.

I have mad respect for pilots. Those guys usually know how to handle every situation.

its scary but pilots are very well trained on this. I was talking to a friend who flies big jets a while ago and said this is a pretty simple move now with the technology in planes.

Its more scary on take off when the first thing that happens is it feels like the plane is going to do a barrel roll

I had to endure that when flying into Atlanta for a layover a few years back. I swear the wing tips had to be within inches for the runway back and forth.

I figured I was just freaking out, but everybody was ... and the flight attendants were all talking about it being the worst landing in their career.

I was more than a little on edge on the connecting flight.

Landed a few years ago in Vegas, we were on the ground and taxiing when one of the wings almost touched the ground, holy fuck, just when you thought you were safe Luckily they were able straighten it out at the last sec.. Talk about an unexpected scare

Absolutely.

Which begs the question... I wonder, how many people have shat themselves on planes in situations like that?

The next time I board a plane I'm going to look at my seat and ponder that very thing.

No issues a long line but took 20 minutes or so but they opened more check points as I got close to the from.
I know the drill so everything in the basket and shoes off and never have an issue with the detector going off.

The reason I always opt for an aisle seat, I want no knowledge of whats going on out side

Scariest experience I have ever had flying was at Congonhas in Sao Paulo a few yrs ago.
A storm was approaching, we had to circle Sao Paulo for like an hour to wait it out.
Then the pilot came on the intercom, said we were running low on fuel and there was and they had been just told there was a small opening with the storm. So we descended super fast, felt like we were scraping the rooftops as we went into land and touched down just for a moment.

Then the plane suddenly went back up and ascended again. It was literally like we bounced off the runway and went right back up. People were screaming and going nuts.
The pilot eventually got on the intercom and said "the storm had caught up to us and we couldn't safely land". We eventually had to land at the Int'l airport in Sao Paulo because it was the only place we could reach without running out of fuel.

Scary shit, especially since this was not that long after the TAM disaster in Congonhas where everyone died on that short runway there.

Moral of story, avoid Congonhas.
