Yup, marijuana is a mental addiction, not a physical one like some other drugs.

but wait, what if doctors tells you to take it for medicine?

LOL

the word "addiction" is easily thrown around until someone has a true physical addiction, try quitting alcohol and getting the DTs then come tell me pot is addictive. I laid in bed shaking with tremors for 9 days, everybody I know who quit weed does it with no pain or side effects.

Playing devil's advocate, they can also tell you to take Vicodin or percocet, etc... all which carry a high rate of 'physical' addiction. That being said, I know what you mean.

right and with a prescription you are allowed to take medicine for as long and how ever much and often they tell you. This differs from vicodin and other narcotics because they will often only fill your script once and with vicodins wiill often be less than 20 pills per script.

I have over 5 people in my family on medical marijuana prescription, and they can go legally buy from dispensary every day.

MAJOR DIFFERENCE between the level of lethality between oxycodone type of drugs and marijuana.

But i too get what you meant, just clarifying the difference.

I buy a bag every once in a while. It's a very rare thing for me to get done with a bag, then call my guy for another one instantly. Sometimes I might go a couple of years, and I don't feel this burning need to have it.

I think the amount of addiction you have to most things is directly proportional to your own personality. Some people will get addicted to anything, because that's how they're wired.

Sometimes lazy and/or flawed individuals blame pot for their problems. Their biggest fear is to quit smoking weed, only to find out they are REALLY just lazy and flawed individuals, inherently, unrelated to the artificial excuses they hide behind. It's always easier to blame something else.

There are successful and unsuccessful people, who do and don't drink, who do and don't smoke pot, etc.

Looks to be a new version of propaganda like "Reefer Madness" in the 30's. I've smoked on an off for over 20 years and have never had withdrawal issues. Seems like a kid that just doesn't have that much will power to control his choices.

Let's say I love eating a piece of cake every night for a long time. It would be just as hard to quit that than it would to quit weed.. It's all in those lazy stoner's minds since it's kinda like a mild ADD boredom killer, but easy to quit..

On the other hand, I wouldn't be able to blog nearly as much as I do without it..

Now smoke a blunt and enjoy my website www.stonedquotes.com

i suggest to the know-it-alls that they simply speak for themselves instead of looking like idiots with broad generalizations. insulting pot addicts with comments like they are just weak minded is about as retarded as it gets around here.

Marijuana withdrawal does not have the physical symptoms associated with opiates & amphetamines. However the mental craving & resultant depression is quite real & difficult to overcome for the 10% of pot users who are addicts.

How many on this forum are addicted to carbohydrates? Or biting their fingernails? Or watching television?

Looks like society can just label anything an "addiction" that people enjoy and don't WANT to not do.

QFT. I would have liked to have been an 'evening only' smoker, but whilst at home I would smoke it all day so I guess I was one of the flawed individuals to which BFT3K refers. Being an intrinsically gregarious person, I found it helped me cope with the solitude of working from home.

Aside from the mental/health issues, another reason why I decided to stop was purely financial. Like everything else in this country (UK), it's fucking expensive!

Yup! Any stoner can quit whenever and not withdraw or anything similar, they just don't want to quit.
Fuck society! (jk, just the morons..)

The world would be much smarter if everyone was banned from communicating with each other with FB and comments..

it actually motivates me to work harder. if i am feeling unfocused and unmotivated, take a couple hits and bang, im pumping out the work and coming up with all kinds of ideas. i don't need it to do that but certain days when im not feeling like doing fuck all, it can help get the wheels moving.

I would still say it's a very mentally addictive thing but it's easy enough to stop, and I'm sure it largely depends on your surroundings.

Also not saying it's a bad thing, but if something is getting in the way of progress or work then that should definitely be considered..

I don't smoke...but I can relate to what you're saying.

And you know what? My grandfather got up every morning at 5 a.m. and the FIRST thing he HAD to have was his cup of coffee.
On mornings he couldn't get going...it got him motivated and feeling good.

Hell, the govt. has already stuck their nose into everybodies personal life this far...I'm guessing that it won't be long before they will make caffeine illegal too. It's definitely physically addictive. And while they are at it...sugar too.

Or maybe...just maybe...the govt. could do what it's supposed to do and stop infringing on people's personal freedom and liberty. It's none of the governments business what I do in the privacy of my own home as long as I'm not hurting anyone or stealing or killing, etc.

But society in 2012 doesn't seem to agree with that premise.

Quoted for truth.
PS: Robbie, you may not "smoke" but you are "smoking". Irony. :D
