Drive my car 200 miles or rent one?

My one car is at the dealer so I have my SUV. It gets like 14 mpg but and sucks to drive at high speeds. Have to drive about 200 miles roundtrip this weekend for a wedding so I was considering renting a car.

I can get a nice "premium" car for $60 with taxes and fees. Ill leave my other car at the airport and have to pay $14 for 2 days to park, so I'm looking about $75 total.

SUV has about 80k miles on it but have a lot of driving coming up in the next few months

I had a similar displeasure of driving a Nissan Murano from Sac to Tahoe last weekend. Handles like a school bus and brakes and accelerates like one too.

I'd take the premium rental. Sounds like a steal at $60.

Maybe there was something wrong with your Murano?

I had one a few years ago and loved it, especially in snow. It handled well and was extremely comfortable. I really enjoyed that car except the really bad gas milage. It had a V6 but was less economical than a V8.

OMG whats wrong with u ? I drive a 2L V6 and do around 250 miles on average or more a week. Our petrol prices over here are just plain stupid as well, mind you i get paid 20p per mile from my works and have a sports car which is pretty comfy lol. Renting sounds like the way to go

I think a big problem was the CVT transmission. Those things are terrible IMO. I'm fairly certain this one didn't have any issues... it's just doesn't offer very good performance. Once you go BMW, you can't go back to Nissan. LOL

thats what I've been thinking too, but I'm pretty sure its a possibility.

There is something slightly off with my SUV, I notice when I drive long distances or high speeds the car acts a little funny. Its due for a visit to the dealer next week (under warranty) however was expecting my BMW to be back today but they called saying they need more time.

For the $70ish in costs I think I'm going to do the rental... just wanted to ask here to make sure I'm not crazy for thinking this haha.

The Buick I selected gets like 25mpg or something it says online, not to bad considering my beast gets half that

Sounds like you live a very complicated life.

200 miles is not very far. I don't think I would rent a vehicle for that.

I wouldn't rend a car for 200 miles. That's only about 3 hours in the car.
