Some File Locker sites protest that they don't knowingly engage in Piracy, however when sites like this are so easy to find that argument flies out the window.

RapidGator and FreakShare are amongst the worst offenders.

Apparently the australian paypal domain changed or something. I'm not certain about that theory though, paypal.com.au still works and always has so paypal.com's traffic drop should be unrelated.

I suspect quite a lot of the drop is due to filehosts, if not the majority of it. There's no information anywhere about it, though, so anything anyone says here in relation to it is merely speculation.

Not necessarily.

Their funding is being attacked, not their traffic. They still have the endless amounts of backlinks to the content they host, so their traffic shouldn't drop much (yet).

It will eventually as the lack of new content starts having an effect, but until then, there won't likely be drops.

(i wanted to say the "type" of downloader, but just substitute that for teacher, priest, magician or childrens entertainer)

Traffic comes from people clicking links on warez forums links. They have no clue if links are working or not.

The asking price just became a bargain. In their DB is a wealth of information. IP addresses, emails, bank accounts, records of uploading and downloading. Anyone with balls can turn $60k into a profit by sending out letters.

am I missing something? the alexa traffic rank for paypal just went back up in the last couple days to where it was at 2 weeks ago. so either the drop had nothing to do with file locker or paypal just turned all of the file lockers accounts back on ?

Everything we do has strategy behind it.

SharpFile.com has recently been gaining lots of love from up loaders, it's in everyones interest that it's crippled before it becomes bigger.

If you think you can do any better then step up to the plate. It's easy to criticise but much harder to put your money where your mouth is, which is what those of us working on Copy Control have done.

None of this is easy. It's painstaking, forensic and detailed work. It all takes considerable time and effort.
