well, instead of attacking the people here you better bring your position more clear.
what's your problem again? you seem to be a talented guy since you can hack stuff, what is an art at some point. are you really stuck up with filelockers that much? paysite business model is about to change. i've told many times it's outdated, but there's nothing to replace it with. and content owners aren't even trying hard to have things changed. there should be some agreement between filelockers and content owners, but both party prefer to act on each own. filelockers can't run that way they are doing it now. just that. |

The missing part of the equation here is that content is very expensive to produce, of course if you sell pirated content it's going to be 100% profit. One $10 file locker membership can give you access to more than billions of dollars worth of content. Don't believe me ? How much do you think it's cost to produce the biggest movies, software titles, games, tv shows, porn and so on ? The producers of these digital products need to recoup a profit from their products in order to stay in business. Re-investment in development by software companies in the US alone is several billion dollars. None of that would happen if everyone just paid $10 for a file locker "all you can eat" membership. As I said, the only way infringing file locker operators make money is to do so on the backs of others and by exploiting the fact that many people think it's ok to steal. Quote:
2. Name one, just one, non infringing site we have gone after. You can't, because every site we have gone after has been infringing. 3. DownloadNoLimit.com contacted us wanting a partnership in the past few days. We haven't accepted because the service and what they do is toxic. We do not accept any money from any organisation that runs illegal sites. 4. None of the sites that we have impacted would have had a problem had they followed the law. The fact is the every site we have targeted has either (a) hosted infringing content and paid people to upload infringing content; or (b) not complied with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act; or (c) hosted illegal content such as child pornography; or (d) provided direct support to a site which falls into one or more of these categories. We don't shut down sites, or impact their payment providers, if they comply with the law. |

AK, don't waste your breath.
People who steal never will understand. Their parents just didn't raise them right. I work hard, and take a lot of risks. At least I make my money honestly and don't have to make excuses and twist things around to try and justify myself. AK, you are doing the exact right thing. These morons can't understand that YOU aren't shutting anybody down. You are simply showing payment processors what the offending sites are doing. The owners of those sites are shutting themselves down through their own greed and thieving ways. |

You obviously have no idea how login systems work and having the most secure system still won't stop someone from guessing your stupidly easy password, as if it was hunter2.

I'm not a hacker, but I do know that if you have password123 as your password, it'll take this uploader dude not very long to brute force it or fuck even guess it himself... Clearly he's proven he's not a 1 time lucky guess guy.

After X tries it should at the very least lock out the IP. Even better might be to lock out the whole account after X+X incorrect attempts and send a new password to the email on file and disable all logins until the new password is used. Not doing this make it easier to brute force.

But it will chew through their proxies quickly. Also if you automatically lock out the account after X tries and send an email with a new long password it makes it nearly impossible to brute force. Same for locking it out for X minutes after X bad tries.

The chap brute forcing passwords here is speaking the truth in many respects. The majority of people here ARE clinging onto an outdated business model. They ARE selling cookie cutter shit porn. They ARE not providing an excellent UX. They DO have flakey security. This industry really reminds me of the music and movie industry. Thought they were better than everyone. They had years of selling people shit they way they demanded. And people did it. Then the internet happened. And people rebelled. The porn consumers are rebelling. Are you making your site better than a pirated version, or are you doing a Markham and offering sites with download limiters, Real Media content and lies on your tour pages? It's really a wake up call. |

That works if you're dumb enough to have an algorithm which can be reverse engineered that easily. and without the proper entropy.

Thing about piracy is that it existed WAY before the internet. The first printing presses were viewed as piracy. And paying uploaders is such a tiny, recent part of piracy. People just do it for the bragging rights. For shtz and gglz. Because they CAN. Do you think the people get paid that upload the TEN TB A DAY that gets uploaded to Usenet? (Clue: they don't). This whole file locker/upload monkey thing is a red herring. This industry fucked this industry up. Circle jerks, virus laden site, diallers, card banging, shit sites, misleading tours, content rotation, hidden x sales etc etc etc The list goes on and on and on. We literally trained consumers not to trust us. Literally. We'd take the few people that did trust us and fuck them up. Time and again. Now, guess what? They don't trust us. Closing 10, 50, 100 or 1000 file lockers won't make a red cent's worth of difference to this industry's revenues. My clients are doing more than fine, or they wouldn't be paying me to help them with marketing, but for most of them, monthly memberships paid for with a credit card is a very small part of their revenue. Times change. |

It happens from time to time. Don't feel bad! People that know me (and there are a lot of them), realise that some of the time I just post to wind people up, and sometimes I post what I mean. When I post what I mean, a large amount of the time most people would agree with it.

This guy seems to like SQL exploits. SQL Injection seems real popular today. With faster graphics cards and OCLHashcat using masks now. Be interesting to see if we reach a point where if somebody gets the password file we all are screwed. I did add a few extra special characters to my password today.

I think some people miss the point that there are two issues here, and only focus on one.
The first is that content gets pirated. As pointed out over and over again, piracy has always been around , and always will. The second issue, that many seem to forget is, the profiting of other peoples work. Filehosters and upload monkeys make money from John Doe, off of my content. Not saying its a stolen/lost sale, because John doe probably doesn't trust us anyway, but its still not right that someone other than me, or whoever I decide, should profit from my work. If my content should be available for free on any host, that is up to me, I don't need someone else helping me with making that decision. You can argue piracy all day long, with valid arguments for both sides i guess, but what u can not argue with is why someone else has the right to profit/make money off of my product. |
