I Need A Pen Tool Specialist :::

I'm in need of a pen tool specialist. Someone who can cut out a model from the background on 3 shots. I had someone do it already and they did a terrible job so I'm on the hunt for someone who has lots of experience doing this sort of thing. It's for a very important client and the job needs to be done ASAP.

The shots are 3/4 length shots on white background. Easy gig for a skilled and experienced graphics person.

Please email me (see sig) if you consider yourself a pen tool expert and have lots of experience cutting out people from backgrounds and can do this job for me right away. Please include a link to your portfolio -

Oh - here's a pic for your viewing pleasure

Pen tool is pretty good to use. You can also use Filter > Extract.

Why are you doing this in two stages- one for the cutting out and one for the design? Seems weird that you are going to hire someone to only cut out the models from the white background and then hand that partial image off to a client where obviously some other graphic designer is going to have to take the background-less image of the girls and compose them into some other kind of background, add shadows or other images around the models to make it look realistic and then supposedly compose other elements into the design like text or logos etc.

The client asked me to take care of it so that's what I'm doing

Likewise - gimme a shout in future if you need more done Dean. For the first few years our company was based on precision compositing.

Old schoolers here will remember the thousands of bondage fantasy artworks we did since the 90s.

i'm pretty good at doing cutouts but wispy hair is tough if the background color(s) are much different than the natural hair color - if you don't include some of the wispy flyaway hair a cutout looks cheesy.

I watched a tutorial on Model Mayhem by a professional retoucher on masking hair - he has amazing techniques i've never thought of but he also said the last job he did took him 2 full days of work to do.

I use VertusTech Fluid Mask plugin - it's an amazing tool if you master it and for easy to medium difficult cutouts it's great for anybody.

I think a lot of people have their own technique - some have developed whatever works best for them.

I still prefer manual cloning from one frame to another...it's time-consuming and tedious and requires a very steady hand (and pen tablet - I use a Wacom Intuos4) - but the final results are flawless and perfectly realistic, even with wispy hair.

But you're right about it being a bitch when the background color is drastically different from the model hair. That can get incredibly time consuming, sometimes near impossible.
