What weight does a .xxx domain have if.....

Hi

What weight does a .xxx domain have if..... .adult, .porn and .sex will get released?

.xxx could make a market if the others are not allowed, but if they are then .xxx should be re-priced at a normal domains price!

What do you think?

What I am trying to say is, what is so good about .xxx if .porn .sex and .adult will soon get launched?

Maybe the owner of .xxx can answer this?

.xxx may have a future if the domains are priced like .info domains. But ICM Registry has no future. They are hemorrhaging funds. ICM Registry spent millions during the approval process. They spent millions more on TV ads that failed, a race boat, sponsorships that blew up in their faces,... Pretty soon ICM Registry will be forced to sell the .xxx tld or it will be taken away from them.

ICM Registry has applied for .sex, .porn and .adult in the new gTLD program. If we are awarded the applications, we will put names that are already registered with .XXX on our reserved list.

This requires no effort or cost to webmasters that have names in the .XXX namespace.

An example would be if you registered ?domain.xxx?. The corresponding ?domain.sex?, ?domain.porn? and ?domain.adult? would be put on our reserved list, free of charge. From there, the "domain.XXX" registrant can register any of the names, or leave them on the reserved list. The names will stay on the reserved list as long as the "domain.XXX" registration remains active.

Here is our press release on the subject: http://icm.xxx/press/xxx-operator-ap...level-domains/

Okay thanks for info

......but, how much will the reserved domains cost me?

Are we looking at $5000 a go?

Or something more reasonable?

Thanks

We are still determining final pricing to register a domain off the reserved list, but most likely between $10-13.

Dianne Duke made some good points in her letter to Icann:
Quote:
ICM seeks new TLDs to sell as added value to its overpriced .xxx domain names, this represents an abuse of the expanded gTLD name space concepts. If the .xxx sTLD cannot generate enough revenues, then it should be allowed to fail for the reasons which we and many others predicted. It should not be propped up and bailed out with additional general TLDs.

We applied for the other extensions to protect current .XXX registrants. If awarded the other extensions, we are putting the names that have a .XXX counterpart on the reserved list ? at no charge.

protect registrants from what exactly? .xxx is not a great success story so far, so at the moment (and probably in the future) there is absolutely no reason at all to protect your .xxx domain

putting potential customers on a "reserved" list... some people might refer to that as clever marketing

Someone here showed an image of one where the SERP title said something like "file not found" and the domain was #4 for the term. A whopping few hundred search/mo term, so even if whoever owned it fixed their site, they're looking at having spent $99 for a visit or two a day in search traffic on an otherwise shitty domain.

Oh, and gay.xxx is #4 for gay xxx. Half a million dollars spent well amirite guise?
