They are usually pretty quick, but TBH, most of the time the issues are cut and dry. Other times you will want to close your account.

I've had 2 disputes one was a pain in the ass and I had to send in an invoice to prove that it wasnt a transaction involving porn and after that it took them over a week to evaluate the situation. The other took a phone call and the account was re-opened.

You have received a payment that we believe may not have been authorized by
the PayPal account holder.

Account is ok, only some money are on hold.

That's what i received. Then i clicked 'Resolve Now' and submitted design mock ups.

Unfortunately PayPal takes the side of the buyer and not the seller. The only way for a seller to protect themselves is with a tracking #.

Good business idea - some type of digital good tracking #s. Maybe there already is one, I'm sure there is.

It sounds like they are trying to get there money back by saying they did not authorize the transaction which is hard to prove they check ip and things like that

Right. Sounds more like that. But how is that? The user logged in and sent the money... what is a criteria when it becomes unauthorized....

Maybe the user is traveling, and logged into their PayPal account from a different country than usual. Things like that will trigger it.

I dont mind if they send it back , a client has been paying fine, may be he needs to resubmit it after that? Should the sender be involved and call PayPal to clear it out?

Bonus is you should get interest on that money ...

When we had our PP shut down years ago, they held our $$ for six months then paid out the full amount plus interest.

Don't even count on getting your money. You've lost the case unless you can prove the owner of the paypal account and the client are one and the same. If they filed a dispute for any other reason they would lose because you can't dispute intangible items on paypal.

Spoke to a client. So far no problems, he submitted all the docs paypal asked. Will see how it goes. Worst case paypal should return money to the sender i believe, then he would pay by other means. I hope so.

Bought some Jumping Stilts in a German OnlineShop.
But After over a month there was no delivery.
It took about a month after I started dispute until I got my money back.

Their dispute people, or the one I deal with, was a fucking moron. A couple of years ago, I sold a couple of PS3 games on Ebay and the seller first said that he wanted me to ship them to New York because a buddy there gets stuff, then puts it together to ship to him in the Phillipeans, but he just asked if I'd directly ship to him, I said as long as he pays the shipping, so he did.

He paid me on a Thursday night which I sent the games out on Friday. On Monday morning, he emailed me asking where his games were, then filed a dispute on Tuesday with Pay Pal and they froze the funds, I was like WTF ?!?!

Anyways, I had a receipt from the post office with his address right on it, however, since he was in a foreign country, the postal service says they can't fully track it, they just hand it off to their mail courier and it's good to go.

I figured I had a clear victory on my end and was confident, till Pay Pal ruled in THEIR favor !!! I called up Pay Pal and got to speak with the asshole that made the decision and after arguing my point, he gave me my money back, but he also let the other guy keep his money, so he got free games. I noticed in his feedback, after he tried screwing me, he did the same to another person

In over 15 years with PPal I've only had 1 minor payment problem and it was fixed in a matter of seconds by rep -- always keep a clean slate with them and you will be ok. Don't play games in the back room -- never.

they used to block logins from another countries so you could not buy things when travelling. now when you move to another country for good you have to close your account and open a new one. Paypal sucks but I still use it.

I had a lot of disputes when i was selling facebook likes. People would order, I'd make delivery, then they would claim that I didnt deliver.

I won every single dispute because I always took a screenshot of their facebook page before the work and after, clearly showing that they received what they ordered. The majority of the time, the person that started the dispute dropped it instead of escalating the issue.
