Attention Florida Voters!

?VERY IMPORTANT FLORIDA!!!!!..... vote "YES" on keeping all 3 Florida supreme court justices.....

http://www.defendjusticefl.com

Extreme legislators are joining with Governor Scott and out-of-state special interest groups to try to get Florida Supreme Court Justices R. Fred Lewis, Barbara Pariente and Peggy Quince thrown off the Court.

When you vote, make sure you vote "YES" and retain these judges.?

That Republican crook Scott is already ruining the state. Why not give him the rest of the tools he needs to finish?

I read earlier today that in some districts in Florida it is a 4-9 hour wait in line to vote.

There have been massive lines this weekend in the key swing states of Florida and Ohio, with some voters waiting six hours or more to cast their ballot.

This is not an accident. In Ohio, after attempting to cancel weekend early voting all together, Secretary of State Jon Husted (R) drastically rolled back early voting hours.

In Florida, Gov. Rick Scott (R) reduced the number of early voting days from 14 to 8.

There is a reason for that in FL... early voters typically vote democrat. Also, traditionally black people like to vote on Sundays after church together as a group activity. Gov. Skeletor made sure that can't happen. When lines for early voting were brought to his attention with pleas to extend it his reaction was its no big deal.

One of the articles I read said that in a few places in Florida they closed the line and by the time everyone in it got to vote it was 1am which was hours past the deadline.

It will be interesting to see if they try to challenge those votes cast after the deadline.

No they won't. They can't.

Anyways here is a comment from the corrupt Rick Scott himself....

"One thing to know, these early voting days and on Election Day, if you're there by the time the polls close, you get to vote."

I was in a long line and experienced the same scenario. The polls closed and an election official came out and stood at the end of the line.

Anyhow, remember FL voters, vote YES and retain the judges!

Yes, "souls to the polls" was limited to last sunday only.

For those claiming there is a movement to suppress voting rights in Florida, consider this:

In Broward county, there were 17 polling locations open 12 hours per day for 7 days for early voting.

Tomorrow, there will be 729 polling locations open for 12 hours.

Cramming 729 into 17 is going to create enormous lines.

No one is suppressing votes. Early voting is meant to be a convenience for voters. It allows the voter to vote outside of their district during the 84 hours of open voting. Tomorrow, each voter will have 12 hours to vote. So long as they are on line by 7:00 pm each voter will vote.

There is no suppression. Stop creating a situation when none exists.

Such silly nonsense...... Really.....

Can you explain then why the governor of Florida state legislature (republican controlled) reduced the number of early voting days from 14 down to 8?

There is no logical reason to reduce the number of early voting days other than to supress the voter turnout.

Just realized my post above sounds odd. It should just say the Florida state legislature, not the governor.

There are plenty of logical reasons. How about cost, perhaps FL is cutting costs? Was it around hurricane sandy passing by?

Those are just two off the top of my head real quick immediately after reading this thread / your comment.

I'm not arguing either side btw, simply pointing out the flaw in your statement there.

Had they made it 14 days there might have been a few of the first voting days with bad weather from the hurricane. I have a cousin that lives in Miami and she said they got rain and some wind, but nothing too bad.

Cost is pretty minimal. The people that work at the polls are either already government employees and getting paid anyway or they are volunteers. There might be some costs involved, but the savings would be pretty minimal and I would guess they could get the money from the federal government if they really needed it.

Also, if you know that turnout is going to be strong and having those extra days helped make things go smoothly in the last election then why would you cut them and cause yourself headaches as well as potential lawsuits (which have already happened)?

I like how you tried to argue the two possibilities I brought up (like a random person on GFY actually has answers to them anyway). Listen, Within five seconds of reading your comment I came up with two logical reasons. Therefore your point is invalid. You cannot say "there's no logical reason to reduce polling days" if someone who has no skin in the argument can immediately start thinking up logical reasons. The end.

What makes your points any more valid than mine?

You suggested that they shortened the dates due to either Hurricane Sandy or because of cost. I pointed out how the cost would likely be minimal and may end up saving them costs and headaches down the road as the masses try to vote on election and I pointed out that the hurricane was not really a factor especially considering that the legislature reduced the number of early voting days last year.

omg

I'll try explaining this real slowly. I did not make any points. I did not suggest they shortened dates for any reason. All I did was bring up *possible* explanations that *could* exist -- which in turn invalidates your point.

Here; So you said
Quote:

So you're suggesting that there is only one logical reason, that no other logical reasons exist. Right? Still following?

Now, what I did was immediately think of two logical reasons, and mentioned them. I didn't say those were the reasons, I didn't claim those were the reasons, I didn't argue those were the reasons. It doesn't matter if those are or aren't the reasons, it simply matters I was even able to present them as possibilities.

Because I was able to immediately think of a couple of logical reasons. That means your statement that "no other logical reasons could exist" is false. Other logical reasons could exist, it's simply that you cannot think of any. But just because you cannot think of any, doesn't mean they don't exist. Got it? You saying that "no other logical reasons could exist" is wrong.

Ok, I hope you got it this time. ;)

And I pointed out that there is no logic to your reasons so, hence, I have still yet to see a logical reason why they would shorten the early voting period.

There are many people who will vote for a candidate just because of party affiliation and don't care about anything else.

In 2008 in Alaska Ted Stevens had been convicted of seven counts of fraud and still nearly won his election.

You did not point out that there was no logic, you pointed out why you thought they weren't the actual reasons.

Most republican voters are brainwashed. That is all over the country. Just look at the electoral map. The poorest, most unemployed, most uneducated states are red.

Rick Scott bought his election, and only won by 1%.

lol. I've always wondered why people have such a hard time separating someone pointing out a flaw in their statement with arguing the overall subject. If someone makes a case for one side of an argument using three points, and you simply point out that one of those points are wrong. They will immediately get defensive about their stance, and then either defend the overall point or attack you for being on the opposing side (when you never were).

Those are just two off the top of my head real quick immediately after reading this thread / your comment.

I'm not arguing either side btw, simply pointing out the flaw in your statement there.

*you're

Reading comprehension - I didn't say it wasn't mentioned, but that I hadn't said it was the reason. You even quoted and replied to the comment of mine where I went into a long explanation of how I didn't say cost was the reason, and I wasn't even arguing cost being the reason.

Man, how can people so dense...

Just saw on TeeVee that people are waiting 3.5 hours inline to vote ... that is crazy ... for a modern country ...

I live in a city and I never wait more then 20 minutes to vote, most of the time 5 minutes...

I just waited 2 hours myself...

Are you in Canada?

To be fair, in Canada, you only have 3 lumberjacks, two moose and a stripper voting, so the lines are bound to be shorter.....
