				 | Just Installed Windows 8.... So I needed to reinstall Windows (currently using 7) and decided to check out Windows 8 before I reinstall 7. Not as bad as I expected to be honest. I'll spend the weekend on it and report back. Anyone else on 8 with some feedback?

				 | You can download a start menu and after setting all of your files to open with the right programs it is usable. I set up windows 8 on my other computer, but don't feel comfortable doing any work on it... not sure why, but I haven't done anything more than check emails, gfy, and surf the web. I will not being upgrading my main computer to windows 8. |

				 | I'm not feeling very comfortable or stable with it either. I keep coming back to my Windows 7 machine. Windows 7 is a beast. |

				 | Windows 7 is by far the best OS Microsoft has put out and I have no doubt I'll be returning to it. So far I can see 7 being much more productive than 8. But I'll spend the weekend on 8 nonetheless.

				 | windows 8 here, no problems, no crashes, nothing out of the norm so no reason to not keep using it, used to the metro menu system now anyways and most of it is exactly like windows 7 at $40 for an upgrade its not not a bad price for windows |

				 | You poor souls. There is this computer out there called the "iMac"... and it makes any Windows PC look like a caveman tool from the stone age. Try it, the future is now. |

				 | The new DirectX will be exclusively only for Windows 8, so an upgrade is inevitable in 1-2 years

				 | I bought a win7 computer 2 weeks before 8 came out, so I get it for $15. For that price I'll at least buy it. Not interested in actually installing it anytime soon, as I have actual work to do.

For a long time I left it on my desk next to my PC monitors. I did this so I could see my reflection in the 27 inch screen, and call my self a dick head if I ever though of buying another Apple product. This was quite successful and served it's purpose when I was tempted to buy a new iPhone a few month ago. I figured now that I had learned my lesson, I could finally move on to a better use for my 27 inch iMac. Sadly I don't have a boat nor a lake to sail it in, so boat anchors are out. I do however, have this pesky door in my office that always wants to close it's self. With great skill & a healthy DIY attitude, I managed to remove the stand from my 27 inch iMac and create a fully functional iDoorstop. I'm now quite certain that I have managed to get my money's worth from my iMac. | |

				 | For me Windows 8 startup time is 6 secs, much faster than Windows 7. Start button? Not really missing it. Right clicking lower left hotspot gives shortcuts to most things needed, and as for programs and groups that is what Metro is for. No need to have a desktop filled with shortcuts (although it is still possible to do so). Just click Windows key and choose program to start on the Metro interface. If you really can't live without the Start button there is 'Start8' from Stardock. I don't get all the rage about Metro - you don't have to use it. Personally I feel I am working faster on Windows 8 after using it for about a month now. Besides, I like the option to dock an app and use the remaining 2/3 screen for desktop usage etc. Windows 8 really isn't much different from Windows 7 except it is now both a desktop/touch OS. Is it perfect? No. Some things still need to be tweeked, and there is still room for improvements. I doubt Microsoft is going back in time with Windows 9 though if that is what some hope for. "Adapt or die". Isn't that what everybody tell us who don't like changes? |

Apple products run exceptionally well and the OS is fast and stable. There is something to be said for designing the OS and the hardware to run together instead of the clusterfuck that PCs running windows seem to be so often. BTW - at NETbilling we replace PCs in our call center every couple of years as they just start to blow up, burn up power supplies, drives die etc. We never have to do that with the Macs. Mitch
