Other than when it is a part of a scene I am shooting I don't ever try to initiate something off camera.
That being said, a couple of solo scenes I shot the other day, with a girl I have shot solo/toy & bondage with for 3 1/2 years, turned into a third scene that was a BG scene ...due to exactly what Brian posted above.
