Two K-State Fans Struck By Suspected Drunk Driver In Arizona
the father of one of the guys says his sons spinal cord is separated from his skull.
![]() ![]() (ARIZONA)-- Two football fans from Kansas who attended Thursday night's Fiesta Bowl suffered serious injuries when the pedicab they were riding in was struck by a suspected drunk driver in Scottsdale early Friday morning. A Scottsdale police spokesman said the pedicab was northbound in the median lane on Scottsdale Road, just north of McDonald Road, about 3 A.M. with two men in the back when it was hit from behind by a Ford sedan. The driver of the pedicab and one passenger were immediately taken to Maricopa Medical Center, and the other passenger was moved to Scottsdale Healthcare-Osborn, according to Officer David Pubins. One Kansas man has life-threatening injuries and the other was in stable condition. The pedicab driver was expected to survive, Pubins said. Their identities were not released. The driver and two passengers in the sedan were not hurt, Pubins said. Pubins said alcohol on the part of the sedan's driver appeared to be a factor, though the investigation was continuing. Police said the pedicab was properly equipped for night driving, including reflectors on the back, but that it was unusual for pedicabs to venture that far north of Old Town Scottsdale, a hot spot for late-night revelers. Northbound Scottsdale Road was closed until about 7:30 a.m. Many fans of the University of Oregon and Kansas State University Wildcats were in Scottsdale before and after Thursday night's Fiesta Bowl, won by the Ducks at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale. full article...
