Where is a good place to get the fuck away for awhile? (Outside of the USA)

I need to get away for a few weeks.. Just to somewhere with fat asses on foxy bitches and palm trees and mild weather and some good real food

Where is affordable and American friendly (like the USD is strong yet it's okay to be white and not be murdered/abducted)???

I mean hell I don't know I hear about places like rio and costa rico and the dominican republic and brazil and colombia and places like that but I don't know anything about all of those places

You're asking for a lot.

Asia doesn't have many fat asses and it's far away so don't listen to anyone talking about Thailand. Brazil has the fattest asses but it's no longer a cheap place to visit, but the girls are stallions and the food is good. Shy of visiting the motherland I can't think of a better collection of fat asses and foxes than Rio. Colombia is OK, a lot of foxes and ass there, runner up to Brazil. If you're black and from NYC or ATL the Dominican Republic would work if you want to be around your own people.

I think Colombia trumps Brazil for the attractiveness of the woman, I like that more latina/morena mix that seems more prevalent down there... personal preference I guess... though Rio is the spot for hoes... and those girls know how to put out...

I'll never forget the night during a threesome, a brazilian chick slapped her friend with my dick.. and later chased her friend around the room to share some of my love.. damn brazilian chicks are freaky

If you don't mind a long flight then Penang Malaysia laid back and full of 5 star hotels, great beaches, monster lobsters, amazing beers, fantastic people and great food. I spend every Christmas there to get away from the snow....

Its just 10 hours from London but way longer from the USA due to the stupid hub system here

I'm chilling in Bogota right now. I think Colombian food is great - and in a city of 10 million like Bogota, with a big international community, there are plenty of great restaurants to choose from. I ate here last night http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/573018. Leo Cave y Cocina is probably my favorite restaurant in Bogota. Of course there's always Andres Carne de Res, but that's more for the experience than the food. after that, went to a full service strip club in Santa Fe, the Red Light District. The talent was off the hook as usual, although the girl to guy ratio wasn't what it usually is, being this is a three-day weekend (Monday is Three Kings Day).

Now, the dollar is about 1,780 pesos to the dollar, which isn't good - it should be at 2,000 and I long for the days in 2005/2006 when it was 2,600. But a bottle of Colombian beer here is about 1,200 pesos, I had a late breakfast of Tamale, hot chocolate, fresh squeezed oj and a roll for 5,000 pesos and a mid-level (read 25 years old with one kid) stripper/hooker considers 700,000 pesos (about $400) a GREAT WEEK. The average salary here is 600,000 a Month ($340). So you do the math.

And then there's the weather. The rainy season ended in December, so the forecast for Bogota for the next three months is 70 during the day, 50 at night, and no rain in sight. some people think that's on the cool side - I think it's perfect.

How safe is Bogota for an American? I've heard all the fear mongering about kidnappings from the press, but what is the real story from someone actually there?

Also, how much per night for a decent hotel? Is the internet any good?

I recommend February as the best month to be there. It's past the school holidays so there's no crowds and that is when the best weather, least rain happens. You really gotta get out of the city to see the best of NZ.

I agree - Head to the South Island if you want the best scenery - You can have a pretty fun time in Queenstown as well - Its not all mountains and Fjords....

Bogota is very safe for an American. While kidnapping for ransom is still a problem in Colombia, it almost never happens to an American. I believe the last Americans "kidnapped" by the FARC were three American CIA operatives whose recon plane was shot down in the jungle. So, unless you're planning some jungle recon, you should be ok from kidnapping.

Bogota is not without danger. It's divided into 3 parts - South, Central and North. The South is where the really poor people live - we're talking no running water and wild dogs running around. Don't go there. Period. I did several times, but that's because I'm stupid. Then there's El Central, which is the business district, also several universities, museums and lots of shopping. The area is great during the day, but at night you should take a taxi instead of walking. The red-light district is also here. This is where I've rented an apartment for January. At night I take taxis from in front of my building (which has security) to wherever I'm going. Then there's the North where all the well-to-do people live. Sometimes I stay there, but here's the problem - traffic in Bogota is brutal - no subway. As I find myself more in the center of the city, that's where I'm staying this time, to avoid the 45 minute cab rides from Central to the North.

Just don't flash money or jewelry and at night always take a taxi - but one that you've called and not randomly gotten in off the street and you'll be fine. And when you go to a bar - NEVER LEAVE YOUR DRINK UNATTENDED. There have been numerous cases of "Scopolamine" robberies where they put this powder in your drink and you become like a zombie and they'll take you to your apartment and rob you of everything.

I think apartments are the way to go, rather than a hotel. I have a nice one-bedroom in the Chapinero section of El Centro, and I'm paying $650 for the entire month. Everything is within walking distance - and the internet depends where you are. This apartment has great internet, the last one I stayed at didn't. But there's always an internet cafe within a couple blocks. I always get my apartments on www.airbnb.com. You can get apartments there for one night or more.

If there's anything else I can tell you - please let me know.

There's an interesting documentary on Scopolamine here: http://documentary.net/worlds-scarie...devils-breath/

I seriously thinking about going back to Colombia for an extended vacation next year.... I spent a few weeks in Cartagena and Santa Marta late last year.... I plan to visit Cali and Medellin next time though.

I've seen that documentary -pretty scary stuff and it's real. I know both Cali and Medellin well. To my taste, I like Medellin much more. It's a bigger city with perfect weather. Maybe 80 during the day and 65 at night. Cali is hotter and has much higher unemployment, thus more crime. But the Salsa Clubs are better in Cali - on Avenida Sexta. Better restaurants in Medellin - more international.

Damn dude, that's some great info!

I remember reading about that "Scopolamine" stuff on Vice.com, the journalist that wrote the story wanted to try it to see the effects but thought better of it at the last minute and backed out. That's some scary shit.

I've actually been planning a trip to Thailand for quite some time, but as much as I like Asian women I find Colombian women even sexier, so a trip to Colombia would be something I'd seriously consider.

I figured some of the stuff I read about kidnappings was a lot of fear mongering. I spend a lot of time in the Texas border towns and go into Mexico a lot, and with the exception of Juarez I have never once felt unsafe, so long as I've used common sense like you stated above and stayed out of areas I didn't belong in...

if you really need to flee, i suggest you to go in a war zone, like syria, but it's dangerous.
