Euro beef = horsemeat?! Glad to be in USA.
Just reading this article from BBC:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-21059425 Apparently, Irish and British people have been eating beef that is actually 29% horsemeat. Perhaps more disturbing is the regulation that "value beef" must only be (at minimum) 55% beef by law. Anyone okay with getting served a burger that is 29% horse while being told it is a "beef" burger?

horse meat is actually not bad and IMHO the best way to deal with a horse is to eat it anyways...

I am sure it is all about the mad cow disease. Besides, they overcook it so much it probably does not matter.
I found this article about Canada quite interesting, but was not really on GFY, so not sure if it was mentioned or not. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/canadians-p...--finance.html |

But here is my reason for not eating horse: because horses are intelligent, and they are pets. I don't eat dog, I don't eat cat, and I sure as fuck don't eat horse. Are you going to next advocate eating dolphin and chimpanzee? Well, fuck that. And also, I would just have a problem with a company selling me a "beef burger" that is 45% comprised of other meats (without disclosing this information). Even if the other meat were pork and turkey, which I do eat, I want to know what I am actually eating.

Horsemeat is actually good.
I had an amazing horsemeat carpaccio & tartar steak (mousse actually) a while back. Absolutely fucking awesome.

The problem is they are unknowingly eating it. It wasn't advertised as a cow and horse mix.

Blame the Dutch, and if you're buying 8 burgers for a quid what the fuck do you think is going to be in them.
We get horse meat in Spain, there's special butchers that just sell it, never tried it though. |

Just out of curiosity, have you checked what's in your "meat" products you get from the freezer etc? I bet it says something "Meat - or parts comparable to meat - 75%"
..and unless it specifically says "100% beef", I'll almost guarantee it's some garbage poultry meat-by-products. Make your own burgers. I'd be upset if I bought FRESH burgermeat and found out it wasn't what I thought it was. (A few months back someone tried selling dyed pork as beef tenderloin.. I bet some that if a muslim bought that, there'd be hell to pay).

Horse sounds more expensive then cow...
... anyway... hard to find out exactly what we eat... They put fucking insects in some kind of cookies... and they think it's normal not to tell... Also once wanted to buy grated cheese for the macaroni... I was reading the packing. It said: "low fat grated" not "low fat grated cheese"... Nowhere on the packing i could read that there was actually cheese in it... wtf??? it looked like cheese... So i searched for some info and it appears that they can make fake cheese that look like cheese a they sell it like it is cheese. I was like: damn... that's why Domino's tasts like shit... they don't put fucking cheese on the pizzas.

as for the horse meat...if people aren't being told there is horse meat in their hamburger meat, thats bullshit. i don't care if its there but it should be marked as such. i've personally never eaten horse meat but often see it in the ground meat section in quebec grocery stores.

In Sweden all burger places use 100% Swedish beef from cattle.

Horse meat is good and dirt cheap here in Quebec. But when it comes to red meat I prefer Bison over horse and beef.

this make zero sense to anyone else? Last I checked horse meat cost a LOT more than beef not to mention they don't carry as much meat on them and cost more to feed. Would be a complete money drain..
horses are smart so don't eat them? that's ridiculous.. pigs are far smarter and just as friendly as dogs so do you skip that as well?
