:stoned The 10 dumbest things Republicans have said so far this year. Amazing.

1. "I think video games is a bigger problem than guns, because video games affect people."

? Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), quoted by Kotaku.

2. "We will look forward to interrogating him at his hearing next week, mercilessly. We will bring him back for only time waterboarding to get the truth out of him."

? Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), quoted by Politico, joking that he'll get the truth out of Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) when he faces confirmation hearings to be the next secretary of state.

3. "They are used to defend our property and our families and our faith and our freedom, and they are absolutely essential to living the way God intended for us to live."

? California Rep. Tim Donnelly (R), talking about guns on The Bottom Line.

4. "These are people who are going to have to answer to a much higher power than me about why they have appealed and appealed and appealed."

? Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R), quoted by the Columbus Dispatch, saying critics of his JobsOhio program will have to answer to God.

5. "When it's for self protection, you need as much firepower as needed to protect your family."

? Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant (R), quoted by the Clarion Ledger, saying he'll oppose President Obama's gun control initiatives.

6. "Assault weapons is a misused term used by suburban soccer moms who do not understand what is being discussed here."

? Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder (R), quoted by the Missouri News Horizon, on efforts to ban assault weapons.

7. "He's partly right on that."

? Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.), an OB-GYN, quoted by the Marietta Daily Journal, on Todd Akn's "legitimate rape" comments.

8. "We may have to shed blood every couple hundred years to preserve our freedoms."

? Former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.), quoted by Chicago's DNAinfo, adding that conservatives are losing the "war" with Democrats for U.S. voters.

9. "I refuse to play the game of 'assault weapon.' That's any weapon. It's a hammer. It's the machetes in Rwanda that killed 800,000 people, an article that came out this week, the massive number that are killed with hammers."

? Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-Texas), on the Dennis Miller Show, arguing that banning assault weapons won't work.

10. "A holstered gun is not a deadly weapon... But anything can be used as a deadly weapon. A credit card can be used to cut somebody's throat."

? New Hampshire state Rep. Dan Dumaine (R), quoted by the Concord Monitor, opposing a move to ban guns for the chamber floor.

2012
Women: 55%/44% Obama
Latinos: 71%/27% Obama
Blacks: 95%/5% Obama

Gee, i wonder why they're actually, finally coming to the table on comprehensive immigration reform

This shit really gets old, But since you are bringing it all up again.

A friend of mine has worked for the same company 20 years. Today he was notified that the company is closing down and moving out of country. This major factory is what keeps the small city it is located in above water. Others that work for the city will also be losing their jobs due to the loss in taxes.

Great Job Democrats

Yep. That's why they're fucked. For decades they've played the bigot card - with great success. The well has run dry. Whites are no longer the majority in America, an entire generation has grown up not hating gay people, and women have fucking had it with the Repiggies trying to control their ovaries.

They have nobody except the small number of millionaires / billionaires, some trailer park white folks, and the religiously insane snake-handling set.

Democrats should be poised to pound what's left of the GOP into a paste. But they aren't. Dems could fuck up a wet dream. It's a bit discouraging.

So... exactly how do you figure that's all the fault of the Dems?

GOP senators block top Obama jobs initiative

Washington (CNN) -- Senate Republicans on Thursday blocked the No.1 item on the president's congressional "to-do-list," refusing to allow a vote on a bill that would give tax breaks for companies that "insource" jobs to the U.S. from overseas while eliminating tax deductions for companies that move jobs abroad.

This isn't the Dem's fault, it's the republicans. There are Tax Incentives, thanks to Bush, to move jobs out of the country. There are endless loopholes in the system that make it cheaper to have your company outside of the US.

Don't forget that doing this is one of the things that made Mitt Romney so rich. If he were elected, this problem would be much worse.

Obama is already working on closing these loopholes and has launched something to help:

http://articles.marketwatch.com/2012...siness-leaders

It is too bad that it is probably too late for your friend.

Because Ed (among many others around here) believes that everything bad is all Obama's fault. Everything was peachy perfect before Jan 22, 2009. In one recent thread, some guy claimed that the financial crisis didn't start until the last 2 months of the Bush II administration. Just one of dozens of silly claims i've seen.

Right wing propaganda machine FTW

News flash wingnuts: Obama's just another bent right-center corporate shill.

Exactly how head-up-ass does one have to be to think that GE is going to ditch the USA?

Where else on earth are they going to get away with paying an effective tax rate of 11%?

A few years back - I think it was about the XXX domains - the Congressional Committee on Technology had a hearing on CSPAN. I watched it. I don't recall if it was a Democrat or a Republican, but he made the remark saying "I'm not sure if I have email or not. I do not remember".

Here was a member of Congress - who sat on the technology committee - and he had no idea if he had email or not.

That's funny, but it's not unprecedented. Remember this doofus Ted Stevens? He was in charge of regulating the internet.

Quote:
They want to deliver vast amounts of information over the internet. And again, the internet is not something you just dump something on. It?s not a truck.

It?s a series of tubes.

And if you don?t understand those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and its going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material. -- Ted Stevens
http://ohinternet.com/Ted_Stevens

And this fucking tool, who was on The House Science Committee
Quote:
?All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the Big Bang Theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of Hell,? Broun said at the Liberty Baptist Church Sportsman?s Banquet recently. ?And it?s lies to try to keep me and all the folks who were taught that from understanding that they need a savior.?
And there are plenty of others:

I don't think there's any question that ANY time in the last 30 years was better than the last 4 years economically.

The only real question to me is: Why aren't the Senators and House Members who actually passed the legislation in the late 1990's that deregulated banks and mortgages that led to the housing collapse that is the REAL reason we had an economic meltdown not being held accountable?

Instead it's just a bunch of smoke and mirrors (by the same lifetime politicians) talking about taxing the rich. Taxes had nothing to do with the economy collapsing. It was 100% the housing market collapsing which then brought the banks down which then destroyed the economy which then led to massive unemployment which then drove up our debt because of a smaller tax base.

Everything else is just deception on the part of the Federal Govt. to cover their own ass.

So political life and discussion ends after an election? It doesn't end in the real world.
