![]() Those of you who do programming work for other people, how do you handle your 'portfolio' as it were?
Obviously for the most part you just cant go posting the custom scripts you have made for clients on your website, so how do you handle when clients want to know, see and experience the work you have previously done? The reason for asking is that our programming side of the business has unexpectedly taken off this year so far and we're wanting to hold onto this trend by specifically creating a custom programming service site but we are not really sure how we can effectively showcase the work we've previously done to new potential clients without breaking our existing NDA's. Any insights those of you that program for others may like to share on this would be greatly appreciated. |

IDK about others but I am always programming shit that pushes my limits on my own time. That is the stuff I want to show case since its unique and really shows my skills off. Not some crappy corporate site that anyone could do. If I want to show some previous work off, I just show the front end, anyone could see that. Like I programmed xyz function on xyz site.

Unfortunately, it isnt as simple as us just showing off the front-end of clients sites as we typically handle backend systems for them, not the front end programming aspect.
Most of what we do programming wise includes stock brokerages, hedge funds, support and service requests plus some backend CMS functions... Stuff that really we have no way of actually 'showing' to new clients if they ask... Hence the reason for starting the thread. |

You explain what you did. If they don't know what that is, they don't need your services.
If they use the word "script". Run. |

Write a case study ... Describe the client needs, goals, the chalenge of the project, how you found the best solution, etc.
Any serious "futur client" who read this will understand what you did.
