Picked this up from Amazon. I've got 4-day old lemon and orange oleo saccharum ready to go into the mix, too. Right now the plan is to boil a pot of water with the lemon and orange peels, along with the oleo saccharum, mixing in the sugar, taurine and caffeine to completely dissolve. But I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to use for my main liquid... I'm assuming it needs more than just water.

Thoughts?

what kind of energy boost are you looking for?... i dont think this is a good idea.. for a good energy drink try Xtend.. i dunno if you're getting your own recipe cause its cost effective for you, but try any amino-mix, pre-workout and you'll be fine, no need to mix homebrew stuff, unless you're experimenting etc

I was thinking "what about making my own RedBull?" so I did a search on YouTube and came up with this:

You know RedBull is comprised of less than .10 worth of ingredients. The lemon and orange peels bump up the cost of my own creation, and the cost of 32 oz of pear juice is $5 so it's slightly less than RedBull overall... but should also be much tastier!

Anyway we'll see how it turns out.

Guarana powder is even better than pure caffeine. Or Red Bull for that matter.
My buddy always used to drink a Red Bull before his workout. But now he's hooked on my gaurana. I got it in Brazil.

Good question regarding the boiling process. I honestly don't know. I can tell you however that I feel pretty calm after taking 1000mg taurine, with approximately 100mg caffiene and 15 drops of ginkgo biloba. That would suggest the taurine is working.

Sweating slightly... but aside from that I have no jitters...

So... just as an FYI... wear a mask when you seal the caffeine bag. I puffed a cloud of powder into the air when I tried to get the air out of the bag, and inadvertently ended up inhaling some of it despite holding my breath to avoid it and moving away from the cloud to breath...

I feel kinda weird right now. It's similar to how you feel after doing a line of coke.

Why people depend on artificial energy is beyond me. I agree with dyna mo, eating clean is the best form of energy. Eat, train, sleep and you'll be fine. The only caffeine I get is my small cup of green tea every morning with honey (or agave nectar). I wake up at 5am, go to bed at midnight, and have enough energy to train MMA for 3 hours a night and 1 hour of strength training/cardio in the morning - 6 days a week.

There's these things called dependency and crashing. Once you quit putting that shit into your body, which can't be healthy, then you're going to crash and your body won't know how to synthesize/utilize what it needs for natural energy; carbs, fats, etc.

Eat clean, train hard, live long.
