it's a double cutout telecaster with seymour duncan p90 pickups, set-in neck, it fucking screams captain crunch! the plastic film is still on the control cover on the back!

Looks nice. I still only have the one guitar that I got in the 80's. I figure if I can't play all that well, I may as well not play all that well on one guitar, hehe. Although it would be nice for variety from time to time.

Lots of bootlegs out of Korea (I bought a cool Gibson acoustic knock-off for $75 green - no one could tell the difference).

Anyway, if it sounds good to you, who cares!

Check out this 50's "fender" guitar I saw on Craigslist:

minte's gas translator! basicly: korean guitar good, double cutaway, mean the top of the body is cut away above, like the bottom, 2 horns, rare for a telecaster, which usually only has a bottom cutaway, p90 pickups are the elecronic part, p90 is ols school tech, lo-fi, and perfect for blues. the set-in neck means the neck of the guitar is glued in deep into the body, that helps create more resonance, sustain, etc., all of these features are rare for a fender guitar of any model, not to mention only 700 made total, there was a demand for them but they *upgraded* to a jimmy eats world signaturre model and changed manufacturing to mexico, which is fine, but not as rare as korean made fender, and the model is based of a standard tele body.

there is another tc-90 on ebay, asking price is $750, they seem to go for $500-ish, was stoked to get this for a good price.

all from what i've researched

not a bit of feedback, but it could happen?, not any hum from the p90s either, they balance each other and the 3 way selector makes a huge difference when i flip it too.

Ah, let me clarify. I got the guitar in the 80's from a singer who got it from a pawn shop. It's a 1974 Ibanez les paul copy. One of the infamous "lawsuit" models. It's very nice and mostly original. Rear pickup is a vintage dimarzio, the tuning pegs aren't original and the knobs are replacements. Otherwise original.

those are fucking fantastic guitars! i read up on them prior to scoring this tc-90, the ibanez is actually the only true lawsuit guitar too right? all the others pitched that way are lawsuit-era, from what i understand, but apparently they all blow away the american production quality of that time.

their prices are pretty spot on with the gear they have that i am familiar with, some of the cheaper lo-fi vintage stuff, which is what i love the most.

Yes, washed cherry sunburst. I didn't see any R9's in a gold top. I have an R7 GT already so I wasn't looking real hard.

Yes I think so and it can be a bit hard to identify them too. The truss rod cover and shape of neck where it bolts to the body are good clues to know you have a real one. All I know is it's fun to play.

The switch is really old and worn obviously and sometimes it'll pop out of position back to the center. Most of the gold plate is worn down. I used to have to original witch hat knobs and not sure wtf I did with them. It's antique white btw, cream colored now. The frets are so low you can barely feel them, but every note rings clear. I find it damn near impossible to play anything else as a result. I'll probably die with that thing, heh.

No I haven't but it looks a lot like another that caught my eye at Daves. An ES 335, which is next on my hitlist.

Last time I've owned a 335 was over 20 years ago. It was in my collection when I moved from electric to classical. It's one of those I regret selling. One of the things I notice is that the contrasts between 335 is a lot greater than les pauls and SG's. In the last year I have played a number of them and they were dogs. The weather changes we have here effect hollow body guitars a lot more than solids. This time of year when it's quite humid they sound dead. Dave did have a couple that I liked and I will go back up there in the fall and look again.

The block neck is what I will get. This is probably the one

that particular natural finish is my favorite. i do like the violin finish though, especially on a 335 it looks like your holding a cello sideways, fantastic i think.!

but that natural finish most closely resembles a goldtop super fancy finish, which i think looks fantastic on a 335 body, in fact, i've been trying to make a epi riviera p93 work, but the pickups on it are not good enough p-90 for my software to register some notes, in particular a-minor aint happening on cheap p90s, so back it went. maybe down the road i can find a cheapy and swap out the pups for some wolftone p90s

but check out this goldtop riviera p93, ain't it cool!

and i recognize that bridge and tailpiece on that gibbie 335, fender snagged em and put em on this tc-90! hahah, hadn't realized that, yet another cool quirk on this guitar, fender did em up in a smoked chrome finish, looks super.

That is a good looking guitar. I am going to have to give one of those a test drive.
The downside of buying Gibson custom shop, is it's always risky to take them to a gig.
I have a 67 SG that I bought back when I was playing regularly in bands and it is so beat up that I keep it just for the memories. It would be painful to have that happen to a custom shop guitar.

That is a good looking guitar. I am going to have to give one of those a test drive.
The downside of buying Gibson custom shop, is it's always risky to take them to a gig.
I have a 67 SG that I bought back when I was playing regularly in bands and it is so beat up that I keep it just for the memories. It would be painful to have that happen to a custom shop guitar.
could you imagine? not even worth the risk, although i would bet there are some very good luthiers who can work some magic if need be, but you still know.

that epi p93 is wired uniquely, that center pup is not activated by the 3-way switch, it's always on, just have to turn it *off* via volume knob. i busted my rear trying to make that guitar work, the goldtop irl is unreal, like a beautiful blonde, mesmerizing. it was the triple pickups too that attracted me.

but with the music i like to play, a fully hollow electric is prolly gonna have to happen, i might swap out the ps 72 for one, but the more i read about that one, mij, along side only 1 other 6 string made there, that being a fenedr custom shop, i can't recall which model, but it's in that $5k range, i would like to hang on to it just in case it appreciates in value,

+ it plays the best of any guitar i've ever played, it's amazing, i'm often times kinda amazed that i'm hitting some notes when i do on the 72, doesn't happen near as much on any other guitar yet.

Sweetwater is for rubes. Find a real supplier. I get their catalogs, or used to. Really overpriced and sales blahbah is for the post Leo generation.

Not trying to be mean man. It looks pretty. Why dont you give it a test tun through a Fender Twin or a Marshall stack, make a video and put it up on youtube?

Sound and happiness are your friends. Koreans did not make the 1962 model Tele when it came out.

not one single shitty review on the internet. and they (we) all rave about the build quality of this particular guitar, in addition to the sounds it makes.

i don't get it, i'm new to guitars, was under the impression i'm supposed to play rigs (guitars and amps) until i find a rig that suits me, that's what i;m doing.

but i'm supposed to run a guitar through your amp choices and post it on youtube for you to say if i like it?

what songs should i play for you?

under exposed a bit with a touch of side lighting to see the guitar strings reflecting in the unbelievable high gloss finish.

the guitar is still dirty too, that's lint from the gear bag it's been sitting in for years.

Here's my pride and joy... Picked it up on Craigs a couple of years ago. I honestly haven't played enough different models to have an opinion one way or another, I initially sought out an SG because Angus Young plays one. Apparently I lucked out on the EMG pickups.

Apologies for the shitty Iphone 3 pic.

That's a nice rig..your SG is in way better shape than mine. I have played through one of those VOX amps and they are great. Marshall tone at less than 115Db. And you don't need a forklift to move it around!

ANd to the sweetwater remark from earlier in this post. I spend more time on music forums than I do here and sweetwater is the favorite online store of a large percentage of the guitar players/collectors that post. Their prices are always competitive, they take the time to look a guitar over before they ship. I've bought from them and many other of the online places, guitarzoo, samash,guitarcenter,zzzsounds,music123
