There's not enough of it these days. So what do you guys think? What's some good music to make love to your old lady by?

My vote is Lovage: Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By

If you haven't heard it, do yourself a favor and check it out.

Best booty CD of all time is the Original Austin Powers Soundtrack.

Magic Piper of Love
Incense and Peppermints
Mas Que Nada
Soul Bossa Nova (Quincy Jones arranged AND performed)
What the World Needs Now is Love
And more.

I watched the VH1 documentary on Hall and Oats. It was fascinating. I saw the Huey Lewis one as well. I forgot what that series was called, where every week they take a shitty artist from the 70s or 80s and chronicle their rise to fame and their subsequent decent into drugs and povery. I loved it, had Tivo taping it.

Huey Lewis?!

Hall and Oates?!

Enya, Enigma, Dead Can Dance

Type O Negative's October Rust CD...(skip Red Water.)

Or, for a good rollicking fuck....

NiN, the Downward Spiral...(stop at track 9...nothing kills the mood like hearing how life sucks. Might make your woman wanna go sit in the garage, turn the engine on, and let the gentle purr of the motor lull her to sleep....actually, your love-making might make her want to do that, too. )

I managed to catch them a couple times, both times were impressive to say the least. I like Peter better on a roid rage.

The new album is due out sometime in April, at last rumor. The title is "The Dream is Dead" ... appropriate, considering Pete's 40-year-old-depression.

I hope to see 'em when they go out on tour again, which should be end of this year, beginning of next.

I've seen them about 5 times. I met Peter Steel and the drummer (not sure what his name is). Pete's a big fuckin guy... kind of scary.

If she hears you refer to her as your "old lady" the choice of music will be a moot point

Being a truly old lady, there are some Phil Collins, old Genesis songs that get me going And there's nothing like Barry White's voice to start an engine, hehehe Though I do admit there are also times when Aerosmith, Billy Squire and Dave Matthews do it too....hell - just get a handfull of CDs, put it on random and go for it

Heh, that's true. I would never call my wife my "old lady". I just got to thinking about the topic because of the album I mentioned in my first post. It's by Dan the Automator (the best producer in hip hop), and has Jennifer Charles and Mike Patton (excellent singers) on vocals.

Basically, Dan the Automator said he listened to old Barry White albums and wanted to know whatever happened to those kinds of love-making songs. So he made that album, and called it "Songs to Make Love to Your Old Lady By". (The album cover and title were inspired by Serge Gainsburg.)

I have to agree with this one. I could never get tired of listening to Portishead, and it would definitely be good "background" music. (In fact, come to think of it, it HAS been great background music on many occasions)

In no particular order of preference, here is some exquisite music to make love to your lady by:

Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto, "The Girl From Ipanema" (the full version, not the clumsy edit for the hit single). (Come to think of it, that entire album - "Getz/Gilberto" - should work, too.)

Miles Davis, "Kind of Blue" (the whole album).

Isaac Hayes, "Hot Buttered Soul". (Memo to Barry White fans: The big oaf made a career out of trying - and, mostly, not quite succeeding - to catch Isaac's lightning...)

Brian Eno, "Discreet Music".

The Modern Jazz Quartet, "No Sun In Venice".

Duke Ellington, "Unknown Session".

Michael Jones, "Pianoscapes".

Albert King, "I'll Play The Blues For You".

Milt Jackson and John Coltrane, "Bags and Trane".

Miles Davis, "In A Silent Way".

Santana, "Santana" (the first album).

...just for openers...

Coltrane kicks ass.

I agree about Isaac Hayes being great, but surely you're not completely discrediting Barry White.

Does one discredit a well-prepared hamburger simply because it is not filet mignon?
